Your pumpkin was not on a claim, right? You didn't have to put on criminal acts to take it? In that case there is no way to track you through the pumpkin.

If you want someone to play with try making a post under Dwarves and Thieves. It is always possible that someone is lonely and looking for a couple of partners.

It's the full moon right now. If there is a lake near you go fishing for plaice which is excellent perception food and will help you see more stuff while you are foraging.

Newer players play quietly and secretly for the most part as you want to avoid being noticed by some bored dick who will kill your little nubbies just for the lulz. There is no law enforcement so they can murder you with impunity. That's one of the draws of the game. You play in a state of terror, since if a boar notices you, let alone some one in steel plate and purple merchants robes you are almost certainly dead and nothing you can do about it.

To avoid boars and bears use a custom client. Almost everyone plays on the easy difficulty by using a client. Heck, when the Dev's played, they used the custom clients too instead of their own default.

There are large numbers of bots playing, who stump around the woods collecting curios or who stand deep in the mines mining patiently and lifelessly like golems. That makes the game much quieter than otherwise. The owners of the bots are either asleep or at school.

There is a lot of silly chest beating that goes on in the forum. Read the how do I guides and ignore most of everything else. It is just noise, and very repetitive noise at that.

Enjoy the crafting. H & H is the best game ever because of the crafting.

Keep your mentory as full as possible, don't eat too much of any one food and imbalance your stats, start alts as soon as you can get spare cone cows and enjoy the game.

Not ideal advice for hermits if you want to get anything done, at least not unless you specify that you're going to need alts

You better hope I don't find you, scum.

My, oh my. You certainly have a rather harsh outlook. I offered what I have done not as a prayer for forgiveness, but to explain that I had to do what I needed to to survive. Being new to the game, I didn't know of the forums until today. If I get killed for stealing a pumpkin? Then I deserve that, however, I did so out of necessity and did not take more than I absolutely had to.

I have a policy of repaying what I take, I refuse to leave a debt unresolved. If we are to be enemies because my survival was important to me, then I accept the consequences. I hope that isn't the case.

lol
Early world exploit: Put your hearthfire inside a cave, then hold shift to position a claim right in front of a cave. After 8 hours the claim will be unbreakable. Since your hearthfire is inside the cave, you can still get back inside, and leave, but nobody will be able to enter, effectively making you unraidable for the first 3-7 days. Enjoy

I understand the consequences of getting cocky with others, however, I also understand the consequences of letting people walk all over you and not stand up for yourself. When someone approaches with a 'you must die' my first reaction is 'good luck', my second depends on whether or not I find out they are just kidding. I am not overly attached to any one character I make, so in a game like this, it doesn't matter how many times I die. Thank you for the advice, though.

Interesting, but my personal tip to you, is that you never let anyone live with you until you do some serious research. Same with talking to people, cuz who knows? You might even run into Troll while he is doing one of his little Fun-Raids ;)

And also, as you get further on in the game, you might get more weary of players who threaten to kill you, as by then your character might be worth a few Million LP (Stat & Skill wise)

And yeah, I believe I should not let people trample all over you, but still, keep your distance, so you won't have to worry about that.

Try live in heavy forest away from the river and in a corner of the world.
I love travel. I am famous as "Arrows catcher" or "Lonely farmer".
