I'm not sure how easy traveling mechanics will be but have you guys any plans to prevent people from simply building a boat the first hour and head for one of the world borders. Cause this would just defeat the whole idea of forcing everyone into solo mode. Don't take it the wrong way, I'm heavily relying on it cause I can't even stand the idea of soloing haven for any lengthy period, did enough hermiting W6. But if there are heavy mechanics to prevent us from actually finding each other it looks as if the few that have a perfect mapping tool will sit on top fairly quickly.

Edit: Was watching this demo on no man's sky and they had the same idea of enforced player scattering. Guess we will see if this genre will make it or not.

And thats the problem. The flicker generation with needing instant satisfaction rather than working toward something. Don't get me wrong I think HF spawn is nice as well. But I can adapt and make do. I choose to try before I seek change.

Pretty much anyone posting on these forums is already invested enough in the game to give it a shot,

How to lose what players you have for a new updated version of a game:
1.) become Jorb and loftar
2.) do what they do
3.) sell the game when you screw up enough

The idea may have been born from there, but if it were merely a pragmatic solution to alting problems, I would have opposed it. It's just as interesting to see what it will do to the in-game society, and, as Jorb said, especially so at the start of the world.

I'm sure people will map the whole world again as always in order to go back to the old ways even if it will take some more time to put alts and friends together

Perhaps; it shall be interesting to find out, and I don't necessarily mind, even. As Jorb said, it's an experiment. Even then, however, I would at least like to point out that just because it's possible to create alt characters, that doesn't mean that it's equivalent to the current situation, since they are clearly more "expensive" to create, and cannot be created on a moment's notice.

I disagree emphatically. It would be very relieving to finally let the current code die an honorable death and have it rest in peace, rather than having it continue its zombie-like existence. :)
