Consider it a challenge, then. I, on my hand, I'm not as worried. :)

It's still s terrible idea. Doing the same actions a million times until the RNG gods smile upon you sounds just plain frustrating. And I can already see people with bots having tons more of these events and thus gaining yet another edge.

While it's true that we haven't filled out the system with enough content for it to be usefully tested yet, this description does not match reality. Might I suggest that you wait and see how it turns out before judging it?

Loftar, will you release the client yet so that we can begin making bots to to things millions of times?

Don't worry, people will make bots even if they don't release the client.

Ah, you know how I love hyperbole. Still, solving the issue of the game feeling too mechanics-centered by piling a ton of new mechanics on it doesn't sound promising. IMO roleplay and rollplay are inversely proportionate, as evidenced by most campaigns in 4e D&D.

I don't even play D&D myself, but from what I've heard what makes 4e bad for roleplaying is the rules focus on combat and lack of rule focus on non-combat situations; apparently 4e has significantly less rules for non-combat situations (i.e. most roleplaying) than 3.5, which would contradict your point. Either way, I don't think 4e is a good example for this argument.

I understand Potjeh's worry about you guys implementing something that could be very useful to bots. I was just having a discussion with a fellow-hnher about botting in Hafen and I just hate it (I'll keep saying that whoever makes bots and distributes them doesn't realise what they're doing to the game).
Although I understand his worry, I wanna trust Jorbtar in realising this problem and implementing it in such way, it won't be abusable. So please Jorbtar, implement new changes with caution.

And thank you again for all your hard work, I can't say it enough.
Hope you have a great day

These were my exacts thoughts when reading the article. Unless these experiences are unique for each character, people will sooner or later figure out exactly how to trigger them.

I would love to be proven wrong, though!
