I've observed these things about the lag:
- It is localized / gridbased: My friend who lives somewhere east of the main grid reports he barely has any lag at all.
When I helped out some new players today in Novigrad, the lag was annoying, but playable.
However, at my place, somewhere west of the main grid the lag is insane, as I described in my earlier post.
- The lag seems to spike/fluctuate; this morning, and just now, 15 minutes ago, lag spiked way up to a point that I couldn't even walk anymore, and village chat/party chat didn't update for over 5 minutes. I logged out, to find that a lot of players seem to be experiencing the same, as server population dropped to 50-something. I couldn't, and can't seem to connect to the server again, however, the game hasn't crashed and other people seem to be able to reconnect, as population raises again. This morning I could reconnect to the server again after some minutes, I suspect I can log in in a bit if I keep trying.
It has nothing to do with my internet connection.
Also, on a shorter timescale, lag seems to fluctuate as well, being annoying for some minutes, then semi-gone for 30 seconds or so.
