I think it's a nice idea for buying base skills, but a terrible one for raising the raisable skills. Raisable skills should depend on resources above else, much like stats.

Avu wrote:How about the fucking ancestor system? That shit is broken beyond belief. How about the damn murder alts? Strenght that is orders of magnitude the most powerful stat in the game? Bear lp? Thane rings? Hearthtfire vaults? Paper walls? Wardrobes? Bugged items? Macros? Poppy flowers? The NEW combat system? Bears that rage and run? There's more...

lol...this.......cave system, 5 hours and the mines not even in here...lol But I always at least add in "sure there are things that need to be fixed but I do LOVE the game or I wouldn't still be here". I think alot of people are the same, especially long-term players. I do appreciate all the hard work J&L have put into it but I likewise 100% nderstand Avu's points. I have thought the same regarding the continuance to add cookie cutter features on top of so much broken stuff. My main "fear" is the seeming attempt to look to other games and integrate cookie cutter crap rather than stay unique and fix what we already have. The "impression" iI get is that, "Well we don't bother with that because we are gonna radically change it all anyway". To what? WOW Meets Wizards 101 with a dash of Runes Of Magic and a bit of Tabula Rasa with a dash of SWG behind the scenes dev behavior all incorperated in a 2d Ragnarok sprite environment (the only part I actually love about the above calcualation) and just a dim faded hint of the Unique Sandbox of H&H classic?

Maybe the Devs just aren't satisfied with the uniqueness? Maybe they do in the end want a piece of the financial cookie cutter pie? I don't know, don't really know what the heartfelt goals/plans are of J&L. I only know that I've been looking for a game like this for 10 years. If you spend an hour doing "Sandbox games" type searches on google you too will see a nice segment of the gaming community looking for the same and bitching about what few sandbox HINTS there are (EVE for instance) all across gaming forums. SO yeah I "bitch" and "moan" when I get the impression "This was/could have been it, but it's being changed into another cookie cutter." Personally, I guess in the end, I wish they would just do it if they are gonna do it...so I can just cry and keep looking.

As a side note, why do people keep posting this? Things like hearthfires, FEP, worship, tracking and scents are original... but there isnt nearly as much unique content in H&H as people regularly claim. And experience points used to purchase skills and raise abilities certainly isnt unique or even rare in skillbased games... it might even be the most common feature they share.

barter based player driven economy THat's also unique and for the record I've argued for eliminating XP entirely.

For a random MMO H&H DOES have a lot of unique content vs. any other mmo regardless of how cookie cutter XP...I mean LP...is.

its really quite funny because even though there are complaints about cookie cutter developments, possibly the MOST unoriginal thing about the game is hailed as brilliant by the same people and when something unique like rituals/wyrd shows up it gets sneered at before theres even a chance to try it out

also something being common doesnt mean its bad, especially if its concerning the user interface
