Steel is a valuable resource.

Make steel coins

Place a bank in a place that sees heavy foot traffic. (Constantinople would be an example)

Build up many layers of stonewall

For storage create strongbox, and offer a key to those for use of it and then they offer an agreeable resource for use of it. (The banker gets a key so that even if hearthling loses his.. This is where a trust able character is needed)

Before banking is possible, we need some sort of stamp based system so that notes cannot be counterfeit. Then notes can be exchanged in trade which can be taken to the bank for steelbar. (Not for one steel bar, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100) The obly problem that needs to be overcome is the quality of the steel.

There is no good enough storage solution, nor protection scheme, to pull anything like this off at all. Strongboxes are expensive to make, take up space, and don't hold that much inside them. You're never going to be able to make a real bank which actually holds significant resources to the point of making it worthwhile to the end user to not keep their resources with them.

Unless, and we come to the point of a 'bank', they use the resources you've stored, to 'merchant', and gain more resources from what they have.

This game doesn't seem to be the type to actually promote merchanting as a sole occupation to the point of being able to create a bank simply for this purpose, 'growing money' doesn't seem too steady.

If I had a reason to store the money, I'd understand it. Or If I had a way of making you reliable for it in turn for your being able to merchant it, that would be fine.

Otherwise, there is really no point at all for this besides being able to trade stacks of paper instead of the real item, but that causes trouble for everyone considering travel between both the selling party (originally taking it to you), and the buying party (having to come get it from you).

If you had an effective means of reaching every region swiftly, I could see this happening, but it would take more than you obviously.

Having transport to every region (or whatever unito f areas you decide you can travel about swiftly), through teleporting allows you to bring goods from your main area to wherever you are going pretty swiftly, but I'm assuming would require a hell of a lot of AGI/alcohol (would raise price of your service), however would allow you to keep your safehouse... safe.

This is all speculation from someone who's only played 3 weeks however, so take it with a grain of salt, just my view on the matter. It would be nice, but too hard for you to pull off alone, and not worth it for investors/store-ers.

Gerrado wrote:why not incorporate a NPC bank? that is incredibly hard to rob-or impossible (i know this would be incredibly OP) and then you know your goods are safe with the bank, there could be a few branches of said bank in each supergrid and they would allow you to trade across the entire map, or less, depending on how far the developers want to take this, maybe even fixing each bank capabilities to trade with other branches in the supergrid, region or the actual branch itself. just throwing this idea ou into the open, piss on it or praise it as you want. as i will not care

The only NPCs I want to see in game are ones that hunt down and kill anyone who suggests implementing NPCs.
