Re: a silly thread

yes, this thread is damn hilarious. I'm glad there's people in this community who can laugh at jokes.

Yeah, I can't help but grin. :) I hope no one is truly upset about this.

@ Laketowners: If you recall, on my first day playing I went to laketown and helped myself to the communal baskets. I did pay everything back in full (and a little more) in a matter of minutes (probably about twenty), but the point is that people just starting may or may not understand the seriousness with which theft is taken. It's hardly as big a deal in the real world, and in most things that would make it even smaller in a game. Now I don't mean to make an argument for thieves, but we should try to welcome new players and give them a chance to give back what they steal before killing them. Maybe. Not if they take nice stuff, but... ;) ... you know what I mean.

I would just like to point out how hilarious it is that people are getting into an argument in this thread when it is exactly what JTG wanted when posting it... I know it isn't about the original post but he still got drama. Bravo for feeding the troll. ;)

Even if you don't want it and won't do it, all of the other idiots will.

I have yet to meet a goon that isn't out to steal or plunder. Go live on your own if it's safety you want.
It's not like we kill everyone without a reason. It's been clearly stated that once the secret fort is done you guys will feel comfortable enough to do more serious stuff.

If you're so serious about e-murder and all that crap, then why do you commit e-theft in this e-world wih your e-brain.

That's because most of them came from RoB without no clue on the consequences of thievery, and just decided OH LAWLZ I TAKE DIS MAKES BE HAPPY JAJAJAJAJAJA, considering the fact that all you really need is a mine, then you can practically with one person, in your own hands, build an entire settlement over time.

Guess some people never did understand the meaning of patience, Also, Michael Jackson, poor guy.

Point being? I don't care about theft, but if it's organised crime, which goonheim obviously is thanks to fcn and JTG. I've never killed a thief unless he took some serious loot. I even let Rubs run free which is something i don't regret doing.

And yes i admit that most of my post are or seem to be an attack on whatever it might be. But that's completely irrelevant to this discussion.
I don't take it too serious. I just take it seriously in a normal way that i care about this game and what the devs do with it.
If you like JTG would track down all my posts you'd find it's not just this game / forum. There's over 20000 posts from me on the web. Have fun whining about that.

And stop using "hilarious" or we'd have to start a hilarious club or something.
The ones who see things differently.

You can praise them, disagree with them, quote them, disbelieve them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can't do is ignore them.
And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius.

It's not theft if it's not a criminal act -- ie, not on a claim square, and is something that any newbie can do. This is explicitly stated by the game mechanics -- you do not need the theft skill to pick something up that is unclaimed. Additionally, it is untrackable by rangers and does not leave scents.

the thread started quite funny and as usual it turns into pointless debate (euphemism?). basically its just throwing insults at each other, knowing nothing will change by doing so.
i wish such things would be solved with reason in-game... but who am i to ask for that...

I think the right attitude about this is "If it's not in a claim, it's fair game". It seems appropriate to me anyway. Of course there would be something controversial about newbies who don't have claims yet...

while there is some logic to saying a person who has yet to learn of the idea of claiming stuff/land as his own cannot be stolen from... in reality people do care about their stuff and don't want it stolen regardless of whether or not its claimed.
To draw a real life comparison.
Someone leaves their bike on the sidewalk infront of their house and goes inside for a minute... Someone comes along and takes it.
It's not on their claimed property per-say, and thus you could perhaps, dispute their ownership of it... However, in reality they would stil chase after you and beat you down for stealing their bike.
I imagine the games is basically the same.
While a ranger might not bother chasing down stuff stolen from non-claimed areas.... that doesn't mean the person who was stolen from wont feel unhappy and get angry at the person who took it.
That person will call him a thief.
And for all intents and purposes that means he will be punished if possible.
It doesn't matter if you think your a thief or not, or if i do, or if anyone else does. It only matters to the person who thinks you stole from them.

We spared you guys so you'd be able to play before you die when you try something stupid. So stop whining about how sad it is to attack weaker people while we didn't.

JTG happened to live there. Had he lived somewhere else you would not even know about all of this. And i would not spy on you.

You know, I think I know why JTG has such a crush on you now.

"THIEVES AND MURDERERS SUCK"

"BY THE WAY WE'RE GOING TO HUNT DOWN AND KILL JTG AT EVERY OPPORTUNITY AND IF YOU ASSOCIATE WITH HIM OR HE SHOWS YOU THE GAME EXISTS, WE'LL HATE YOU TOO."

"E-HONOR."
