When older players have repeated that macro abuse is (was) a standard among top tier players, some of them in this very thread, I find it very hard to believe the top player 'Blaze' didn't use them or abuse them when the rest of the world was. I repeat, actively playing always results in quicker progress in most games but is worlds more difficult than running a program that can, with plenty of effortless afk time, produce the same results. If macroing was so useless, then why were so many people proud of their self feeding image recognition crap? Why not just spend ten minutes in the woods? Why did so many of you and other hearthlings rely on them?

And please attempt to come up with responses that at least mimic intelligent feedback.

Blaze didn't cheat/macro, he didn't have to, nor did he desire to. he just hunted... all the time... everyday... It was insane. I still think it was insane... I used to see him daily on his hunts where he would travel around the world slaughtering everything that moved [and wasn't human... he didnt kill that many humans].
I suppose it seems bizarre to you that someone could just "play" and "enjoy playing" a game day after day, for frankly, more hours then a fulltime job.... But that's what he did... for months and months.. But just because you can't imagine it, doesn't make it not true. When you say something like "no one could know" or "how could you no he didn't macro" ... well thats because he was constantly interacting with everyone throughout that time.... For most the time he was a part of community, constantly talking to, helping out, and having fun with lots of people, just to a extreme degree. I find it sad you can't just accept something others know as true as fact, despite all the people telling you.

And when Rift says it that means that you now -- if not before -- have it on good authority.

There was mention of either Jorb or Loftar enjoying the game 'Civilization 4'. The Civ games are awesome :D Plus, this:

Is similiar to the construction research found in Civilization 4, shown here:

I think it has more to do with them appreciating poetry than them appreciating Civ4.

The reason macroers get ahead in games is because they play actively for their normal time, and then they macro the rest. If two people both were to hunt 100k LP a day, and one of them also spends the 8 hours he sleeps with a macro going, then the macroer will be ahead. This does not mean the macroer will beat somebody who just actively plays that 8 hours too. I didn't play in World 2, and I didn't ever meet the guy, but assuming he cheats just because he did well is a bit pessimistic, even for me.
