Ah yes, the trusty img macro move, never fails.

But seriously, AFAIK character quantity was not nearly as much of a thing before the curio system, you mostly had players grinding one main. That was back when bear hunting was a LOT better than bucket botting, though, buckets were just too bot friendly not to run a couple of clients doing that. But yeah, if you bot and alt proof the game somehow, you'll just go back to something like bear hunting of yore, ie nolifing will be the only way to play. I think you didn't leave it like that for a reason.

I think I agree with Jorb on this one. Put a cap on character progression and people will start finding ways to use multiple characters in combat. Multiboxed movement synch clients or multi archer bots auto aiming while they camp rams.

But then on the other hand the diminishing returns on character progression isn't really showing either. Curio system was supposed to combat bots but all it did was to delay the inevitable where people found a way to farm the best curios creating an even bigger disadvantage. Maybe if there was a slight tweak to make diminishing returns show even more and have a second look at the high end curios and there LP/hour.

Exactly. Because the grind already has a cut-off where the diminishing return start taking too much of a toll, and investing in more characters becomes more profitable. Thus your idea that if only there were a fixed limit to character growth, everything would be dandy, is incorrect.

We have been over this already.

What was your proposal to combat this, though? I highly doubt a simple adjustment to the LP values on forageable curiosities would have any real effect. Regardless of whether you were increasing the amount of base LP on craftable curiosities or lowering it on forageables in some attempt to regain a semblance of balance, does the issue of manual effort vs. ease of botting still not remain?

His solution is that he's not going to bother coming up with a solution

If my point wasn't clear then I'll try to clarify it.

Noons bothered about bots hugging up glimmermos or toadstools for example being that they are easy enough to find. If high end curios like bells/pearls/flots had less of a LP/hour, but still a bit higher then glimmers and stools, and lasted a longer time. Then the point of farming them with bots would be completely mute.

Your point was clear and also wrong. Lowering the LP those curiosities give would only force players to run their bots more often or more at a time in order to compensate for the loss. The player that chooses not to be a botter but also plays casually would be affected the most. Not to mention you'd only be worsening the effect the botting already has on trade goods, lowering the overall value of pearls even more.

Well ok, let's pretend for a second all botting issues are resolved. I don't disagree with anything you've said as it's true, that still does leave us with a large gap between those who play casually and the no-lifers due to the game's current state. Personally I feel the equipment soft cap suggestion has been the one that would likely work out the best so far, but if I'm going to be honest I feel someone who puts in that huge amount of time and effort should indeed have a larger advantage. I don't think his unwillingness to discuss means he or Loftar haven't come up with any solutions but I do agree it is annoying when we're left in the dark.
