Ok, keeping to the title of the topic, just an hour or so ago, I random ported like I usually do, wandered around, and found an abandoned village with a few fresh tresspass scents in it. Knowing someone was near, I decided to do what any sane man would do and just hang around until someone showed up or came out of a house. One came out of a house, looking like a hermit, and I told him I was friendly. Shortly after a second hermit flanked me from below, out of my screen. Turns out they were two brothers from the US, hermitting together. I hung out with them for a while, killed a bear for them, and walked with them back to their pali.

The one really wanted me to stay, but alas, with one last parting gift of my old and loyal Q170 sling and two new additions to my kin list, I left forever . This is the first positive run-in I've had with other players in a long time so I thought I'd share.
Hoping to actually find somewhere legit to hang out while exploring once the oathing is fixed 0/10

If you have no HF or village and you login, you have the option to login somewhere in the wilderness, I.e port randomly. It's very risky but I do it anyway :p

I hope you don't do this when you have scents lying around somewhere. I once logged out without hf for 5 minutes (forgot to put it back up) and got bot-summoned within that time.
(I had only one vandalism scent, by checking a soil node, lying around)

The biggest danger comes with logging in in a spot with someone there, I just leave crim acts off and I'm fine. Ive been out too long to have any scents I forgot about, so unless I'm forced to down or kill someone I'm safe.
