No Potjeh. Fun is relative to the person. You can take a huge hit game and find people who don't have fun with it. It is not the games fault. I do agree though we need way more content and specializations. :)

And oh god, these circlejerks, guys pls.

Not everyone has a PhD in Haven. Many players study the wiki to learn the basics or learn what per*exp they need to see certain things, but a lot of them don't start the game in large factions with pearl gear, high quality tea, and high quality curiosities at their disposal. They also don't memorize all the game's formulas and work as efficiently as robots. While 250 UA may be effortless for you, it would take months for a new player starting from scratch.

That's exactly what I did, always referred to wiki once some question arises. 250ua or any other stat raising to that is really not hard once you get a hang of the game and you don't have to be in some large faction. I achieved those things while playing with 1 hermit which was fun while it lasted.

It's either fun for someone or it's not. If it's fun after hundreds of hours of tedium, then the tedium needs to be cut out. What we have now is as if you had to clock 100 hours on a bicycle in GTA before you could drive a car.

a) My post is only long because I'm replying to several people at once. I'm clearly outnumbered here in thinking that actual game content is better than filler, which is absurd.
b) Nobody else really posted anything meaningful on page 49. My one post was basically the equivalent of if everyone was having a normal discussion, which is not very hard to keep up with.

Ninijutsu wrote:Because it's an MMO, you have to invest time and grind and progress. If you want a game where you can jump in and have fun instantly, there are other types of games for that. If you are an instant gratification low attention-span gamer then you shouldn't be playing World of Warcraft, you should be playing CoD.

This mentality is so brainless and flawed and it needs to stop. The reason MMOs before Haven had grinding is because they were shitty. They barely had any content, so they stretched it out as long as possible with grinding. Even so, I've never had to grind half as much in other MMOs as I had to in Haven.
Hey, Haven should have a monthly subscription fee and cash shop because it's an MMO. Haven should have healing potions because it's an MMO. Haven should have a mage class because it's an MMO. Haven should have click to auto-attack combat and powerful skill hotkeys that use MP because it's an MMO, and everyone knows all MMOs must carry on all the worst features for the sake of tradition!
I'm not a low attention span gamer, I'm just someone who likes to have fun when I'm playing a game. I enjoy strategy sorts of games like Final Fantasy Tactics, Advance Wars, and Genghis Khan. Haven is not a strategy game, though. You could go to an elementary school and teach 6 year olds to right-click crops, look for the highest number for the quality, and replant only the top seeds. It's not rocket science, it's just plain tedious and mind-numbing.

I never complained about the infrastructure part, I like building (though I think it should require fewer materials and you shouldn't have to sit around with a thumb up your ass while your character builds the construction). It makes sense that it would take some time and effort to build a large village. The part about numbers is stupid, though. Competition should be between players, not against infinite limits.

[quote="borka"you forgot about the millions of skeletons scattering the world ... prolly 99% of PvP victim ones are stored somewhere ... so nearly all skeletons lying all around the world have been animals bait ... and from my experience most quit when they got boared a second time ...[/quote]
Actually, I see far more abandoned settlements and random hearthfires than skeletons. Yes, people quit when they're unfairly killed outta nowhere, but I think the number of people that quit due to boars pales in comparison to those that quit due to grinding.

The part when you are getting numbers is the part of the competition. If you do it slower than enemy then it means you are worse than him in planning. And it's totally normal when people, who invested more time in game, have more opportunities than others.
As far as I understand you, you want to base the success on the random parameters like "who clicked first" and "who has less latency to the server", that's not the way to build a MMO game.

I think perhaps in between the time in which the words you read go from your eyes to your brain something gets scrambled because I don't think he is saying that at all.

Danno has made some very excellent points and I find it strange that many of you are actually arguing in favour of our current mechanics when you know for a fact this shit gets old, real fast.
