Back to topic: I lived as a hermit for a good while. As long as you don't keep to yourself too much, it can be dangerous and thrilling (especially if you are caught stealing stuff).
And it gives you the freedom to do what you want, you don't have to worry about your whole village taking the consequences for things you do.
Before you take insult to this post, keep in mind that I am simply a warrior of truth.

Hermit life lets you get away from the politics of the world.
If you keep focusing on the shadow behind, you will not see the light in front of you.

Being successful isn't just about hard work and succeeding, it is also about picking yourself up when you fail.

How would you define "hermit" anyway? I mean, are we talking about people who have no contact with other players at all, or do you include people who live on their own but trade with others and suchlike.

Well. Basically living on their own. I myself, plan on trading in the future. But I'm still a newbie so I have no reason to trade atm.

i define a hermit as one living in isolation from the outside world. whether you consider the outside world to be politics or people in general is really up to the person in question

The Hermit is someone introspection, analysis and virginity. It is not one for socializing, it desires a desire for peace and solitude. Nor is it a time for action, discussion or decisions. It wishes time to think, organize, ruminate, and take stock. There may be feelings of frustration and discontent during this time of withdrawal. But such times lead to enlightenment, illumination, clarity.

In regards to people, the hermit represents a wise, inspirational person, friend, teacher, therapist, someone the seeker usually sees alone, someone the rest of the seeker acquaintance. In otherwords, the hermit may be the one that you think is a newbie but may be some that knows quite well of the reason and pathway that he walks in solitude, detached from things the others in the world long for, free from the obligations, needs, and persuasion of others.
Reaper, Reaper, that's what people call me! Why?
Cause they all die! When I sing, I end their lives
You act as though payback makes you a noble man
Is that a fact? Well, you're a goddamn Philistine!

Could be because I don't use veiled threats as my main bargaining chip? Or because people are clueless fucks and rather trade it to people that will fuck them sooner or later? Oh no wait it must be my arrogance that stands in the way!

who uses veiled threats as a bargaining chip...?

I'm going to choose interpretting them like they are linked, it's the only way!

Also. I myself am a big fan of being an elitist prick actually, I don't really see anything wrong with what avu says. He's just brutally honest, that's all.
Someone who analyses the game, understands it and the manages his time well is, surprise, better at this game than someone who doesn't.
