I can help creating/editing pages if necessary. ;)
I have read each page of the old wiki at least three times, many of them have flaws and old information.

Actually, you can. It's URLs and web browsers that can't handle it. :)

Well, yes; a lot of programs outside of the HTTP world can use such names: SSH, FTP, Telnet, SMTP (I think, though RFC821 might have some restrictions preventing it), and lots of other things. Of course, a website couldn't use it. :)
