And when I mean character reset, I mean a complete one, with all your millions of hard-earned LP gone out the window. I simply feel that those who have been here longer should not see all their LP gone for the incredibly stupid desire of "equality." As for losing my items, I certainly would not mind giving up my steel sword and plate mail if item quality were to be added.

I'd give up all my LP at the drop of a hat, if it were to mean a full reset.
I do not care that people want the field to be even, or that some faggot who has spent alot of time playing wants to be a werewolf because he played longer.
I want a character reset because I enjoy fresh starts, and I believe that it would be more enjoyable for both me and many other people for the game to start anew.
It is not about balance or any type of even field, it's about having fun.

I, on the other hand, absolutely loathe the early grind when you can't do anything remotely useful. It's just a couple of hours, sure, but I hope I'll never have to go through it again.

If it's been said once, it's been said a bajillion times: The game is in alpha, and we are all testers. Resetting all the characters completely means it'll be that much longer before many players can test or toy with skills that have a high LP cost. Plus, since a character reset will likely happen in the future with the stats and skills revamp, there's less sense in giving people less time to test late-game features.

Save the full wipe for when the game "goes gold", or at least until it enters proper beta and balancing is the only thing left to deal with.

There's other reasons to wipe characters than balance. New features, or even the potential entirely new skill system, could necessitate everything from a LP refund to totally clearing out the database.
Surprise.

I'd disagree. All basic skills are easy to learn, so there won't be a hugh delay after Resetting. Veterans can find new bugs or improvements by comparising for example. Although the high level content like PvP or Stealing and tracking could be better tested, without bugchars that have like 1k stealth/Str.

And sure, for a new player like me it would be better, if all chars start at zero. But if i had a 10 weeks old char i'd have probably the same opinion cause like Delamore said, a fresh start is fresh fun.

But maybe the best is, to cap only the skill to maybe 200k lp and set all stats default. So bugchars are gone and older player don't start with a hugh skill bonus.

This. This needs to be done, the characters get absurd quick with no skill cap. 200k seems pretty alright, but I think the skill costs should be also fiddled with - with 200k you can easily buy every skill available, which sounds a bit odd and requires no need to specialize. If the devs want to reward players "exping" past the possible LP limit, maybe there could be some very expensive skills with no LP cap to dump the rest into that don't affect combat much, but offer other bonuses - building things that look different, such as fancy looking clothing and houses, for example.

EDIT: Brainfart, thought you meant a permanent cap, not just one for the map change. I'd go for both, actually.

I don't think there are many "bugchars" around, particularly since there was a massive player influx over this past month after the most egregious errors were fixed, and a number of prominent "super characters" have apparently been killed off. However, you have a point. Nevertheless, the devs are giving us new toys to test, and I kind of doubt they want those toys to stay idle for a while while everyone is busy with the early game. Then again, maybe they subscribe to the philosophy of Hidden Fun Stuff.

As for the "fresh start is fresh fun", I refer back to my point about us being testers. The devs primary "responsibility" at this point is not to provide us fun, it's to develop their game. If they can get data "quicker, faster, better" by not resetting the characters, then by all means don't. Sure, we derive fun as a fringe benefit, and it's in their interest to provide us some fun as an incentive, but the idea they should only cater to the players at this point is naive.

@Mikkanen: I think you messed up your quote code.

I'm surprised people are still arguing the character reset issue... The dev's seem unlikely to take player opinions into account when they make a decision like that.

I wouldn't mind a total wipe AT ALL tbh.

Wiping characters for the sake of balance is just treating the symptoms, not the real problem. Character wipe needs to happen when combat gets fixed. Or do you propose we have monthly character wipes forever?
