Use some means to prevent people creating alts. Death would mean more. Remove all teleportation from the game, add more, better, faster, more versatile transport. Make the scent system based on Pclaim/Vclaim border instead of hearth fire for purposes of summoning while offline.

Flame me now

I am a noob and know nothing, nor have I done anything "worthwhile" (lol) on the server.

That's all I get? I was at least hoping for a few insults or something. One word and some dots? I even fail at being a know nothing noob...

Astarisk wrote: Take back my previous pointless solution statement, I wish to use it here. All you have done now is cause havok and chaos for every village. Now they'd need to expand their searching area greatly, and the game starts to become more like a chore, or a game of will. All it takes is one unscouted ram that could lay somewhere far off from your village to destroy an entire village. It makes for extremely unfun game play mechanics and tips the scale in the attackers favor greatly. Not only that, It will just encourage more people to build villages in locations where a ram can't go undetected (such as islands).

yeah i guess so, i was thinking more of people who had left scents hiding in vaults and somehow forgot about the non scent leaving villages, hermit etc

What about when you click the scent on the floor within a certain radius (1000+ tiles or so) of perps hideout you get a build ram option, then at least people with scents out will have to come out of hiding to look, sure, you could turn the ram around and use it elsewhere, but maybe people shouldnt build so close to others peoples places, it would still break after 1000 or so tiles, also, ram should travel on raft, but still be subject to the certain amount of tiles it can travel even on water, it could sink if you take it too far, downstream as opposed to across river

Now you just implemented an easily abusable mechanic to the game. First off, you start punishing whole villages for a villager that may leave a single scent. This would hardly be fair to them. This also opens up a never ending war between everyone on the map. All you need is one guy to drop a scent, than he kills off a village and leaves his own scents, then people gather those scents and use it on them and so on. Not only that, someone could purposely leave a scent, then relocate their HF right next to the walls of a village they want destroyed, congrats, you did not manage to fix the problem but worsen it. Everyone can have their own 1000 tile rams with ease.

The only issue i see is this bit "Not only that, someone could purposely leave a scent, then relocate their HF right next to the walls of a village they want destroyed" .. which, yeah is a pretty huge issue, and enough to dismiss the idea, but the rest of that shit & worse happens anyways

What about making hearthfires indestructible completely but also lift-able? Also if the teleportation system is not removed, then obviously you cannot use a CR or Village Idol port while carrying your hearthfire. If someone is going to abandon their vault, they better walk out and give the attackers a chance.

I'm also pro brickbashing, and the idea of penalizing the basher for bashing is interesting. Maybe not -400 strength every time he does it, but maybe something like getting a debuff that halfs your effective strength and lasts for a week, or two.
