I disagree. I also think that grind is the appropriate word for this game. I define a grind as doing something over and over again in order to get an increasingly better result. So you plant wheat to grow better wheat to get better wheat. This happens in the majority of MMOs. You run a dungeon to get better gear to run better dungeons to get better gear. Minecraft has no increasing value. You build a house to have a house. Terrarira has some of this but after you get to the end game equipment the grind stops and it becomes more like minecraft where you do something just to do it.

The current system allows you to not have to grind, compared to the old system, but the grind isn't gone. You can build a road, build a house, kill a bear or pick flowers while your curios are finishing but in the end you have to get more curios. That in and of itself isn't a grind. Its simply something you have to do to keep up. The grind comes with the quality system. Even with dimishing returns a 100q grape < 110q grape and it will always be a race to keep going up on that. Though its kind of disjointed so its slightly better, this assumes you are part of a village.

Wall of text.

You don't make much sense. That's like saying Cheese isn't made from milk because I can make cardboard look like Cheese.

The game is a grind regardless of how you play it personally, unless you don't actually play it.
Of another era.

Just thought I'd comment on this..

How exactly is Minecraft grinding?

Terraria only has minor grinding (real minor)

And how would you even grind in Garrys Mod? I couldn't find a way to grind there even if I purposely searched for one.

Minecraft and Terraria have the same core game concepts. No matter how you play it, you still have to do all that digging... endless, repetitive digging. Grind fest. I'd rather go play Dig Dug.

Like any good Lego set, there's always the tedium of setting everything up and building it. Tell me how that isn't grindy? Just because you've learned the intricacies of a system so that you can set it up quickly doesn't mean that you can get by without doing them.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

Minecraft has no quality to improve, and new stuff is pretty finite. You dont have to start over Minecraft again and again, thats saying H&H is grindy because you're starting over every single day.

Living has all that endless, repetitive breathing. Grind fest.

Also, whats with all the walking around? I mean, so many games require walking around, wtf?
