Well, I think you are both being far too harsh. The majority (not all) of those who 'run around bashing noobs, tearing stuff down and killing noobs' are probably aged between 12 - 16, i.e. children. Children are like that, lol, it doesn't make them all sociapathic bullies! It makes them childish. Children are by nature selfish, they want fun and excitement, they want things and they want them now, they get bored with organised structure and 'chores' and they like to wreak havoc.

You, Rhiannon, use the word 'childish' repeatedly and there is your answer, children rarely understand the full consequences of thier actions or the impact they can have on others, this is a lesson that fully comes home with leaving the nest and facing the big wide world, along with maturity, empathy and hopefully unselfishness.

Ofc there will be younger players who may be bullies, maybe even sociapaths and i'm sure there are a couple of adult ones in that mix too, but on the whole, they are just children, having fun in the way children do. Hopefully they will grow up to develop a stronger conscience and a better understanding of thier impact in the world, hindered only by people like you with no tolerance or understanding what-so-ever, who berate them on a monumental scale rather than providing a better role model.

I played with a lot of raiders, I can assure you the majority of griefers are not children. I have only met a handful of griefers who are under 16. I am 21, most if not all are in their 20s. The reason we do this is to relieve stress in our lives or jobs. We are already mature and understand the world for what it is, and to knowingly causing harm to others takes a hardened mind. On the other age spectrum, most kids just want to have fun and get along. Though if you meet someone in game who is 12 who kills his friends and allies, that kid is a real sociopath and is beyond warped.

To clarify when i say griefer I mean someone who actively hunts other players for pleasure, I'm not talking about people who steal objects, there are tons of kids who are thieves.

Unless you call that raiding? My definition of a raider would be those who kill or steal as a challenge, for better loot, the thrill of a good fight or revenge. An intentional aspect of the game.

I quoted Rhiannons words as I was addressing the majority of my post towards her but they basically sum up what i consider to be childish actions along with a few other things that i'm too tired to think of right now, lol, sorry, it's late.

First of all, you are in a game forum. A meaningful discussion is much more healthy than calling eachother names. Second, that is true outside of these forums too. Whatever your perception of politicans is, the way to beat them is not by becoming an extremist, but by reinstating forms of civilized discourse that can prove their actions wrong.

I'm well aware that this is a game forum, have never once started a politically themed thread here, and have never once engaged in personal attacks on forum members based on political, religious or racial differences. However, I can point to many instances where other forum members have engaged in jew bating and gay baiting; have posted JPEGS of swastikas and NAZI themed iconography on this forum (and in the game world) as well as using racially based slurs and religious bigotry to generally inflame passions or insult the sensibilities of others.

You offhandedly refer to me as an extremist, ironic considering I believe in absolute rights and freedom for all people regardless of race, religion, sexual affiliation and creed. Petty attacks aside, whatever your political affiliation happens to be, it's simply not moderate, to be sure.
