EDIT: Arguing, then, that it is "mere political correctness" to have to refrain from using "nigger" in that context is not at all trying to "deflect blame" for insulting people; everyone knows that it was an insult and intended as such, and noone is even trying to deny that. It's just pointing out that banning that word has nothing to do with the use of the word to insult niggers for being niggers, but merely as a silly and pointless ban of the word itself, isolated from any of its possible meanings (because one of its uses is a thoughtcrime which must be prevented from being even conceived).

On the third hand, it can perfectly well also be argued that being all butthurt about seeing "faggot" being used on the Internet is just as (if not more) immature as using it, and that one should be trolled a bit into a state of lesser sensitivity. Being called homosexual when you are indeed straight is a very effective insult. It's the same as being called autistic or "different" in any way from what you actually are.
