Mob Rule.

I like you. :D And I agree. However that is merely the reality not the ideal.

The powers that be legitimize their rediculous amounts of power through ideals. In fact, its necessary. See: Christianity throughout the dark ages.]

50% women seats would make it equal? having a female president makes it equal? i dont think so.
you may be mixing up "equal opportunity" and "equality of outcome".

I'll look more into opportunity and outcome, thanks. :)
I do realize that those numbers don't show wheter or not a country is equal, but I still think they can hint about it. I was also trying to disprove Valerie_Hallway's messed up picture of Sweden.

I just really love your country and when I hear bits and peices all over the place about what might be happening to it- it made me really upset.

There is equal opportunity in the US, as for the EU, I guess that widely depends on the prosperity of the country.
Where there isn't, it's more of an infrastructure issue.
My biggest point in this is the mentality of most modern feminists in the US firmly believe that they deserve to be given whatever life they want, rather than earn it.
Getting mad about it and stroking your women studies PHD is not useful enough.

What is your ideal form of government?

Mob Rule. Also a way in which the elites can fool the peasants into believing "the people have the power", as strandmullen has proven.

I have never stated anywhere that the people have the power in practice. I've only defined what I think democracy is.

Valerie, I'm aware that there is sexism towards both men and women, and I agree that there should be none. No one should be discriminated on the basis of gender.
I also agree that the laws shouldn't care about the gender at all. However, what I hope you realize is that there is much more discrimination towards women than towards men.

Not as much in the modern world. You underestimate how much has changed even recently.

As small and localized of a government as possible, or no government at all (I know, the latter is nearly impossible. One will form naturally in the "vacuum").

How small and localized? I've thought about such schemes before and wonder how yours differs from mine. I would appreciate a long paper on it as it is a good and intriguing concept.

As small and local as a naturally formed, spontaneous one would be.

Yep, and the way we can 'fix' that is teach kids from a young age that everyone hates, you can't stop it, and that you can only prove that you're better than it and move on.
Women need to stop dating assholes, work on their self respect, and make their way in the world with tougher skin.
