Tonkyhonk wrote:oh cmon, you may not like it, but it isnt crappy (though the musicians may be, tbh), but it is a class entertainment!
you know we love godzilla, we love horror stories like sadako. and your nature gets awakened and see how peacefool youve been believing youll be safe without a price or efforts. (indeed lots of japanese actually compare this story to fukushima, believe it or not.)
its an entertainment because we know its not real, and we pretend we are experiencing it. its just like roller coasters or bunjee jumping screaming out when you know its (mostly) safe. it becomes not entertaining when you decide its not and i dont blame you for your decision, but just because you think so does not make this a crap ;)

what an entertainment needs is not always intensity or stories progressing. the charm of this anime/manga is its grossness, the feeling of being cooped up with no way out, the desperateness when you try to deal with certain beings(humans) whom you cannot communicate with which causes all the fear and dread. this small candle light you find and sees the wind coming blowing your way. it is a luxury entertainment, actually. you dont enjoy it when you find it too real or when something similar(metaphorically) is happening to you either. oh and most importantly, this dim hope brought by the mysteries and unknown plots that the creator prepares is important too.

SnK is worst kind of shit that attracts the most retarded fanbase after naruto. Its countless plot holes and shit paced story make it even worse. So you should feel bad for watching SnK unironically.
on /a/ half of SnK threads started with Frodo picture asking question why they didn't do x if they have y and such. Then SnK fans proceeded shitflinging with their retarded responses in a sense of "SnK is masterpiece don't question it"

WaitingforHaven2 wrote:I was always curious what the conditions are to make an anime. In many animes the ending is pieced together rather hastily and often these endings are therefore disappointing. I figured some factor of insecurity must be part of the creation. So they can never really be sure when the show will end and how many of their intended goals they can fulfil in the series. That and there's probably a lot of time pressure going on during the production.

If speaking of anime production it focuses on pandering to people who buy shits and figurines. If it sells well you will get season 2. This is the reason why 99% harem shows have no real ending not that most of them aren't shit anyway.
But mostly it depends on what genre studio is doing and how much money they have.

And finally

WaitingforHaven2 wrote:I do not see how this show challenges your intelligence though. Maybe you could give an example. If you are talking about thoughts beyond the anime then I guess I am guilty of being a lazy fool who does not make such efforts. :)
Thoughts such as "What if I were in such a situation. How would I react? What could I learn from this?" perhaps. The show seems straightforward enough otherwise. I find the the beauty to be more in the behaviour of the main character. In real life not many people would go out all the way to remedy a terrible mistake at all cost, losing everything (especially if the terrible mistake happened with the best of their intentions). I know I would not. Maybe that is partly why I like such stories.
In the end my impression is that he only plays the role of the saint who goes out against evil and helps others on their path to redemption if they are willing (to put it in a religious context). Maybe this changes later in the story though.

um, dont you think hard and try to find who did what or how or why while reading/watching a mystery fiction?
well, if youre watching it, i dont want to spoil it by giving away examples. ask me again when, or if ever, you finish it.
as for thoughts "beyond the anime", sure, i often think about such stuff too, like, how come tenma is so lonely when he is loved so much by basically everyone he meets, yet no friends or family of his from japan appears at all nor he even calls or writes any of those which is pretty weird if youve ever met a foreigner living alone in a different country. he even assumes his parents dont want to attend their sons wedding and he refused to invite them. he basically threw away everything about his home and lives in germany. and he did not seem to have a best friend there either. (he does make some later in the story.) his mysterious solitude is completely ignored in both the manga and anime. this creators chars were never like this in other works of his, so i prefer considering that he isolated tenma on purpose. and this thought of mine prevent me from seeing him as a saint who fights against evil. (he does try to help everyone.)
to me, he plays a role of "ideal you" who would get things done for you (no matter you can or cant), or "your eye" or a presenter just leading the audience to every mystery to help you solve the puzzles scattered around.

WaitingforHaven2 wrote:Maybe it would have impressed me when I was younger. It did not do the trick for me this time.

i always have kept and will keep my immaturity to enjoy what i like 8-) i turn very young when i watch kids anime <3

WaitingforHaven2 wrote:All I got were tons of deaths while they kept my hopes up. I felt this was just an attempt to bind people through cheap emotion. I don't see how this is something good. It's just another step towards more profanity in television and more rough manners (okay, I may be overly dramatic here but those are my feelings towards this).

okay. that isnt what i felt, but i guess i did find something similar from death note, no matter how its loved by many. fortunately attack on titan hasnt finished yet, so i cant really judge it yet. i dont know if i like it when i see the last part of it, but the fact is that ive enjoyed those already released and looking forward to whats coming.
i mean, i love eva too, but the endings (few versions) just screwed everything up for me, yet i still want to watch some. i liked books of bantorra too in the beginning, but as story goes on, later episodes kept ruining everything horribly enough to make me go rage and i never want to watch it again. sometimes later episodes can ruin the whole thing, sometimes you can still appreciate other parts that you enjoyed. as for me, there is no set rule to my decision making.

The only other anime that let me so down was the second season of Kaiji. An anime that revolves around a man who gambles for his life and the life of others in a mafia setting. It was all cool till he started playing with that machine. Watching small metal balls roll down the slopes of the machine and the narrator telling me how exciting it is for 10 or so episodes was quite the bummer. If they can't achieve a tense atmosphere through proper story telling it really is worthless to try it with cheap tricks instead.

lol pachinko. have you ever played pachinko seriously? i personally dont actively watch it, but im afraid kaiji fans beg to differ.
actually its a big surprise that you westerners accept a lot more japanese culture in anime than we expect you to. i dont blame you for this comment ;)

i dont judge anime by who the fans are but by what i see in it. so it really doesnt matter how retarded the fanbase seems to you or to /a/. sorry to disappoint you, but i never feel bad for watching what i like or what you dont. as for the last line in the spoiler tag, doesnt that sound familiar? replace "SnK" with "haven" lol

i think i started to see your preference.

a bit of a change to the scene, classic anime(movie) with classical orchestra <3
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W7CiNg3XRdE
(fast forward to 0:56 for easy part)
this movie actually stands completely the opposite of "attack on titan"
WaitingforHaven2 got it right
http://www.anime44.com/nausicaa_of_the_ ... wind_movie
this movie makes you want to believe you could actually communicate with *anything* that moves but some retarded humans.

Nausicaa of the Valley of Wind

Another classical series on my part. I expect this to be well known and popular among male haven players hence no hints this time. That weird song is easily recognizable (and strange as it may be I've always felt it suits the anime).

As for the things said I'll keep it short this time:

um, dont you think hard and try to find who did what or how or why while reading/watching a mystery fiction?

I can't say really. There's probably something going on in my head, lol. Right now I lack the words and motivation to handle this.

to me, he plays a role of "ideal you" who would get things done for you (no matter you can or cant), or "your eye" or a presenter just leading the audience to every mystery to help you solve the puzzles scattered around.

That was included in my idea of a saint. It may not actually be the church definition of a saint though. What all role models displays the most is always the willpower to see anything through to an end. And it is a reminder to strive for that as well.

but i guess i did find something similar from death note

I felt ambiguous about that anime as well. It was a bit far-stretched and cheesy at times. Just like other things you could see on TV (if you wanted to).

lol pachinko. have you ever played pachinko seriously? i personally dont actively watch it, but im afraid kaiji fans beg to differ.

Yes, that's what they called it, I think, Pachinko. :?
I still felt there was more wrong than just this game. The second season felt a bit dumbed down (the narrator received a much stronger position, telling the audience basically how to think often enough). The first season seemed much better to me. But it's pointless to talk about this as there is no common ground.

1. I am not jelly I just have instinct to avoid fujo-bait shows.
2. I gave up on 3D world.
3. I perfectly know how it's spelled.
4. Profit!

I'm not super familiar with all that anime terminology but as far as I understand, yes. I assume you probably already know what anime it is though. 8-)

first season ed, but of the old version, not the new one currently being released. i miss the old version too much to make me almost hate the current version producer and the staff.
