Since stealing isn't against the rules, it's to be expected that there will be thieves. While said thieves are at fault, it's also partly your fault since you didn't protect your valuables. If you leave a $100 bill on your lawn, don't expect to find it tomorrow. We're not monuments to justice, innocent until proven guilty or guilty until proven innocent, it all depends on you. Hell, someone can go out, kill everything that moves, steal everything that isn't nailed to the ground, and it still isn't against the game rules. So to prevent that, you make sure you're prepared for it.

"Don't decieve and don't be decieved."

That's my motto, and it seems that everyone here at Clayshire holds similar ideals. We're generous, not stupid; It should be known that every stranger that visits our town is thoroughly discussed between the inhabitants. While we generally try to avoid attacking people, as we don't like making enemies, we're ready for that possibility. We already knew that we may become a target for thieves since the town was founded, and we've taken every feasible measure to prevent that. Our valuables are cached far away from the village, so thieves searching won't find it anyway; and everyone here is equipped with at least a full set of leather armor and steel weaponry. We're also training the inhabitants in combat, so that they'll be more effective in hunting and also protecting themselves.

A visitor put it this way: "I'm voting Clayshire for evil empire of the year; The people are kind and generous, but their forges of war burn 24/7."

You see a masterful engraving by Blaze. On it is Blaze, bears, boars, and foxes. Blaze is striking down the bears. The boars are screaming. The foxes are in a fetal position. The image relates to the return of Blaze in the late winter of 2009.

I think it's pretty obvious who is lying here and who is not. I've done some investigating on the matter myself and I've already reached a pretty solid conclusion, given the (as stated before) reputations that are attached to the residents of this 'innocent' farm. You've stolen numerous times from numerous places and now you're trying to cover it up with forum drama. Why's that? Do you wish to start anew, or do you wish to continue pillaging unnamed?

Right, I guess I can't read as well as I thought, did you track anybody down for that one?

Edit, again: I guess that's a stupid question. Of course you didn't. I live on the farm which you assaulted and I appreciate that you came back with what you took. I sincerely don't believe that any permanent resident on our farm has stolen anything from you.

You chopped down our apple tree, you took out our production items and put them on the ground for them to disappear (Most of which I managed to save). You also brought along other people who stole even more things, some of which we have got back, some we haven't. We can rebuild these things and it doesn't bother us all too much, you were angry and wanted revenge, we get that.

However, I can't accept the fact that you not only had to do all these things but also threaten everyone on the farm. Your friends also showed up and threatened us in the same fashion. How much did these thieves take from you? Did they kidnap and assault your family? Because that's what it seems like to me. I mean after going through our stuff you must have notices that we weren't a very wealthy bunch of people at the time. How can you be so dead sure that we were all somehow involved in the theft? I, for one, sure as hell wasn't.

I am only asking you to, as you said that you're willing to, leave us alone and also stop threatening us.

Can we stop discussing this now and just leave it behind us and never talk to each other again, please? I don't like having your people hanging around our farm.

Hm. Well, about the last thief, I think we both know the answer. So Ill save myself the time.
Next ... i did not cut down your apple trees. I did not spread your production materials around. I did return the materials i took, even though you guys were being quite rude. It would have been nice if you guys had returned the favor and given me back at least some of what was stolen. Then we could have buried the hatchet.
Next...my threat was very explicitly based on tracking back another thief to your farm. You have to have some responsibility for what comes out of your community.
Last...I dont have any people hanging around your farm. I think the residents of the farms reputations, coupled with the publicity generated by this thread, have simply brought people with past grievance up to visit.
Anyway, I think im done with this thread. And we dont ever have to talk again. Im not going to chase you or look for you anywhere, unless im following another clue. (thats an in game clue)

Actually, just one more. It isnt exactly about this situation, but this thread seems the best place to put it.

Ever since I made an ass of myself stomping around Camp Noctis yelling for the head of SF (And again, really sorry aboot that, guys) Ive been pondering the problem of thieves and or troublemakers setting up camp in established communities. It makes perfect sense for a would be trouble maker to build a campfire in an established place. A person looking for some well-justified revenge might track them to Bottleneck, say, and think "Oh no, if i hit them then all of Bottleneck will take the clues and pursue me!" when in fact BN has no idea that the person is in their midst.

On the other hand, you might have a community that basically says "Oh, yeah, well Joe lives here, and he comes back with all kinds of stuff. Like this bearskin cape im wearing, he gave me that. And bob over there, the guy pulling the cart full of the stuff that went missing from your place, yeah Joe gave him that stuff too. BUT WE arent theives. This stuff is ours. talk to Joe."

That kind of nonsense, i think most will agree, is not acceptable.

So I think that if you are worried about finding a thiefs hearthfire in a community, I think the best course of action is to alert the community to the problem, and expect them to police themselves better in the future. Only after making sure that the community refuses to do anything about thieves in their midst should a community be held responsible.

What do you guys think?

Or should i make a new thread for this? I just thought it would make sense to post it here, since people interested in what has happened here would probably be interested in this post.
