Personally, I doubt it, or at least I think it would be mostly among factions, instead of aimed at newbies, as I think it is now.

then you clearly have flaws recognizing the essence of this game...see what I did there?

No, no, I do recognize the "essence" of the game, as I think jorb and loftar intend it to be. I don't fully agree with it, but I understand it.

The games intention is to work alone or communities to play the way you wish to.

Farmers, Miners, Thieves, Raiders, Rangers, etc.

These are all valid methods of playing, but please recognize that Raiders raid to survive, they do not raid for the pleasure of fucking with other peoples gameplay.

This is waynevilles flaw. They dont raid out of need they just murder.

The problem with the game right now is that Raider communities have all the advantage, the scent systems are flawed at best, what good are scents when a town has glitched and cheated characters and items? J+L admitted themselves that they didn't get them all.

Large towns and communities are almost all but gone completely and independent farms and other areas are systematically attacked before they can produce anything of value for themselves.

If we don't have better defenses soon, as in walls that are indestructible by hand, and gate lockpicking that only helps the individuals who pick the locks, or scaling walls with grapples, and trapped wall segments that, when climbed, if triggered, can significantly hurt the player, If SOMETHING along the lines like this don't happen soon There wont be a Haven and Hearth anymore.

It'll be Farmville

Make PvP related to factions (you're safe unless you join a faction, then people from other factions can kill you). Same thing with stealing/destruction (if you choose to be in a faction, other factions can steal, destroy your stuff).

@Jorb: nope, not kidding.

@B: yes.

Seriously, why not?

The main reason I can see people don't want this is that they aren't really interested in PvP if that means a real fight. What they want are victims, not opponents.

I'm happy to be persuaded I'm wrong.

Fairly simple, non-PvP enabled can't enter claims, villages.

No problem, as I said in another post, it's your game. It's quite clear you're more comfortable with the dickery that currently occurs.

Personally, I doubt it, or at least I think it would be mostly among factions, instead of aimed at newbies, as I think it is now.

Are you habitually a bitch, or is it a serious illness? I said jorb and loftar didn't get them all, but as for glitches, a great deal .. if not all items in WV possession are unnaturally high, not possible without uncheated items. So your equipment.

Fucking hard of reading or just stupid, Do you guys completely ignore one paragraph or sentence just to hone in on one to make all your points? Before opening your fucking traps try doing a little trick called forming statements. Two individual sentences that may not sound related, become, in fact, something else entirely when combining the two.

jorb wrote:Let's assume I want to raid your base. What is to prevent me from sending in an untouchable scouting alt that can't be engaged in PvP, can't be killed and can't be stopped?

That is *one* example. As I said, I don't even want to think of the potential for dickery that comes with that kind of "system".

So you aren't intelligent enough to devise a system that limits/balances your "Dickery love" of Griefing (Yes greifing because it is NOT pvp) and the intelligent financial opportunity in creating a successful game? What exactly is your definition of "Dickery" for clarification. Taking the system as you have it now, while you think up new herbs to collect, lets site an example.

Let's say a person has never tresspassed, never stolen, never vandalized, never done anything to leave a scent and therefore is OUTSIDE the reasonable application of your claimed pvp based mechanics that go into (admittedly interesting) sandbox pvp elements such as tracking/ranging. They work for 5 months building up a character and having a jolly time and even shelling out gratitude donations to you for your creation. They walk into a social meeting place (let's say brodgar vending area for instance) to trade or buy from vendors. (another admittedly cool attempt to actually add some Mmo social elements to a fucking mmo game...what a brainfart that must have took, I mean an mmo with actual mmo social elements, who'd have thought of that...lol). Then some bored childish asshole with 500 melee combat and no imagination and nothing else to do but ride the devs "animal house loser ball scratching griefer LOL overcompensation for lack of dick in real life" mechanic regarding some kind of fascination with 12 year old griefer punks (i say 12 year olds because in actuallity if you honestlly are much older than that and find that kind of thing fun and the limits of your ability to find things to do in a sandbox game you have both a serious lack of imagination/intellect and or some serious mental problems that should best be discussed with a qualified counselor). Walks up to that person and with 1 or 2 hits kills them.

So all their work is gone, a few inheritance points and its back to the drawing board for all those who suffer that kind of behavior, for nothing, just murdered. You honestly think that is PVP? There is nothing PVP about that. There's no vengence, no challenge, no justification, no deterance for criminal transgression. I've seen your lame attempts before to justify both your mechanics and your lack of doing anything about it, with some totally mental FAIL about how it's in place to provide both a pvp element and balance the other "realistic" mechanics you favor such as criminal acts. But yet such behavior has nothing to do with consequences for criminal acts, NOR is it in anyway mutual PVP warfare. Some of the basics of your claims does indeed go into justifying the counterbalance of wishing "criminal skills" in this game (by using perma death and execution as consequences for engaging in the criminal mechanics) This however is dependant on CHOICE...you do criminal acts, you leave scents, you can be hunted and killed. You don't, then you can't...THAT is called deterance. BUT in actuality 90% of the time that is NOT the way it works NOR is that the way your supposed mechanics actually are used by the scanks you attract. DO you really think these griefers are the kinds who will send you support for this game? Because if you do...then you really are out of the loop of finacial reality.

The way your "pvp" (though it's not really) mechanics are used has everything to do with serial killer type griefing and very little to do with criminal mechanic balancing, and I've been around WAY long enough to know TWO things minimum. 1) in the very act of creating this game, it indicates you obviously have the intelligence to know the difference between immersive pvp and game-killing greifing. 2) That your continued claims that this behavior is a side effect of a needed deterant that you for some reason have no clue how to balance out/fix makes you out to be a total bullshit artist and probably just as immature a greifer as the griefers you seem to encourage.

This indicated by how often I've watched you shoot down every logical and valid compromise by honest and respectable players who wish to both play and see this game achieve the greatest success it can with pure unadulaterated bullshit usually buttkissed by the very griefers you claim you wish you could fix. As the poster to whom you responded said, it IS your game and you are welcome to make as BIG a fool of yourself as you wish to where financial brainfarting and missed opportunities are concerned. But please, considering the intellect it takes to make this game, stop pretending that you haven't the sense to either understand OR see a way to make the game playble by both the limp dicked teenie bop griefers you seem to adore and normal mature immersive sandbox players. Because it really is JUST as simple as something like "you leave a scent, you can be tracked and punished" AND you can also engage in mutual approved combat by turning it on. BUT no unprovoked PVP without a scent...period. Yep, it's just that simple. You just don't WANT it that way (nor do your griefer fans)...you, (I believe) think it's just as funny for the immature lolz to see players murdered, unprovoked, for nothing, as the griefers who do it. BECAUSE it is just way too easy to fix. (If you wanted to). This is also why the thousands upon thousand of dollars you probably could be making easy every month if you wanted it , isn't there. Nor will it ever be if you think catering to that player base is the answer.
