But I got an assload of tea instead. I'd rather have that, even though I think I have TOO MUCH tea now...

And I'd price them at 1:1, at least when I'm trading for wrought iron, since full industry specced people basically have a 100% chance to turn cast iron into wrought iron.

There is a 1/2 chance for a cast iron bar to become bloom, and a 2/3 chance for bloom to become wrought iron if you are industry specced. This doesn't take into account reuse of the cast iron, but I don't see how that's "basically a 100% chance".

I (re)did the math last night.

At 0 industry: 25% chance of eventually turning cast into wrought, 75% chance of destroying it.

At 5 industry: 40% chance of turning cast into wrought, 60% chance of destroying it. And it tends to resolve much more quickly.

Calculations follow:
1 cast iron has 50% chance of turning into bloom, 50% into unusable slag.
At 0 nature, 0 industry there is 33% chance that bloom becomes wrought iron, 66% chance that it turns back into cast iron.
start with 1 cast. stop when we hit slag or wrought.
the first round gives 3/6 slag, 1/6 wrought, 2/6 cast.
the second round gives 3/6 + (2/6*1/2) slag, 1/6 + (2/6*1/6) wrought, 2/6 - (2/6*1/2) - (2/6*1/6) cast
so 6/9 slag, 2/9 wrought, 1/9 cast
the third round gives 6/9 + (1/9*1/2) slag, 2/9 + (1/9*1/6) wrought, 1/9 - (1/9*1/2) - (1/9*1/6) cast
so 39/54 slag, 13/54 wrought, 2/54 cast
the fourth round gives 39/54 + (2/54*1/2) slag, 13/54 + (2/54*1/6) wrought, 2/54 - (2/54*1/2) - (2/54*1/6) cast
60/81 , 20/81 wrought, 1/81 cast
Result: the infinite series sums to 3/4 slag, 1/4 wrought.

so 129/216 slag, 86/216 wrought, 1/216 cast.
Result, the infinite series sums to 3/5 slag, 2/5 wrought.

Perhaps I misremembered, but I was sure I had read a post saying that it had been changed after the initial steelmaking stuff went in, so that fully industry specced people would always succeed in making bloom and wrought iron, and that fully nature specced people would always fail. Now I'm not an industry specced person so I never tried it, so I wouldn't know. I take it I misremembered?

I couldn't find the post, but I thought it might just be the bad search feature. It couldn't find any post where loftar mentioned bloom at all.

Edit: So what are the odds at 5 nature?

Tell you what then, tell you what, SPECIAL DEAL, just for you, I will convert UNLIMITED numbers of your wrought iron bars to cast iron bars for you at that ratio. You just bring me the wrought and I'll replace it with cast, no problem whatsoever. I'll even throw in 10 cast iron coins each basket load for the transport cost, WHAT A DEAL! CALL NOW!

>_>

Come on. I don't have a +industry character, how was I supposed to know it wasn't the way I had read it was? :P
(Or maybe that was a "We would like to make it this way" post from before they made the (different) changes)

It's a good thing I hate it when people delete their posts or edit everything out of them, or that post would be empty by now.

Update: A high industrial alignment should now yield more wrought iron when processing blooms. (2/3 with max industry, zero at max nature)

its from the civ census update. It's not anywhere else, so its not supring you missed it.

Nature spec posting.

The harvesting process is boring, time consuming, and not efficient enough.
The only good things now for serious trade are:
Grapes (raisins, juice(prepare for tomorrow), raisin cake as byproducts) - CHA
Carrots (carrot cake) - PER
Tea (tea pots)
Tree saplings.

Even in full nature i find cow hunting for CON better, than growing bread. I can even make butter, as i go out of the field.

For metal making i find easier to make alt for myself in noob area, and feed him cows, or other junk, to make Wrought iron, while Main char can secure steel production from that. Even given full nature, steel process always succeeds for "elves".

So, my point in all that, is that devs need to look for planting, after really serious stuff is done, and make one of the planting product equal in value to steel.
Named: Wine, Beer, Healing pots, cool fiber for cool bow, pouches for coins/tools/seeds, and so on.

Correct me if i am wrong.

We need LEMBAS!
You see a masterful engraving by Blaze. On it is Blaze, bears, boars, and foxes. Blaze is striking down the bears. The boars are screaming. The foxes are in a fetal position. The image relates to the return of Blaze in the late winter of 2009.
