The pros to UO is basically, you're free in the world and everything you do will reflect on a certain outcome. It also is risk vs reward, you may mine or fight monsters, but at the same time you must also watch your back because you can be killed / looted. There is a reporting system if you're killed so the player who kills you may turn red "murderer" after 5 counts. Depending on what ruleset, there are many different ways this can turn into. On Fusion:UO, we have it set that Reds cannot recall/gate anywhere in the world until Blue "Innocent".
They also have a grey system "criminal" that basically makes you attack able for 2 minutes. You go grey for looting a Innocent players corpse, Stealing with Thief skills, Attacking players etc.. So it's just like the real world.
The PvM feature to the game is also great, not only can you fight exciting monsters, you can also become a Animal Tamer yourself to eventually tame Dragons and use them for battle. Each pet has a Control slot number, dragons are 3 "i think" and you have a maximum control slot of 10. You can also ride mounts "horses for example" to make trips quicker. Or you can become a Bard, either peacemaking the monsters "they're frozen for 10 seconds" OR provocation. Provication basically means you can make 2 monsters fight each other. If you leave the Provo range, the monsters will again attack you. This can be quite challenging while fighting up to 10 monsters at a time but it's also fun.
UO has a crafting system that lets you become a boywer, weaponsmith, armorer, carpenter, alchemist, scirbe to make spellbooks and so on. As in any game, you're required to mine, gather wood etc to lv these skills.
You also can build houses, create guilds and war other guilds "attachable onsight", factions "like guild wars only you don't need to be in a guild" and alot more...
The skillcap is 700 "7x100 skills max" and the stat cap is 225. Since there is Strength - HP. Dex - Stamina and Int - Mana, you will need to balance this out accordingly to your character.
And there are other templates as in fishermen who travle on boats, lock pickers and more..
The PvP system is as i say, the best PvP system ever made "clearly why im not playing darkfall/mortal online". There are many skills that come into play with this. Wrestling, Archery, Mace Fighting, Swordsmanship, Fencing (spears), Tactics for damage, Anatomy for damage. Healing skill to use bandages, then the magery skills but i wont go into that. There is alot more but yea.. that sums up the game in a short note.
