My god, jorb...

You countered that so hard it's not even reasonable to call that an ice burn anymore. Let's call it a...

It's a droideka not a stapler.

This is a good cheap tablet- used with photoshop will make the thickness of your lines depend on how much pressure you put on the pen rather than having no variation in thickness as in your pics with the mouse...

With a tablet it's easy to make stuff like this (circled in yellow):

...as opposed to looking like a bunch of worms took a long shit all over your painting.

I can't draw worth shit but i think just doing this stuff would improve your art a lot unless you actually WANT it to look like that.

I like the game art in general but is there a reason it's deliberately very low quality, pixelated, a small pool of colors, etc? Some of the stuff looks like you colored it pixel by pixel in MS paint, when it would be easier to do in photoshop and you would get a better result.

Ford, my piece is in the rough. Look at the dude's left leg and arm. Compare the areas of high detail to the areas of low detail. The issue isn't one of tablets or photoshops, but of work.

Yes. I'm the only one doing this. I could draw every object, item and whatnot at twice the present resolution, and then scale them down, but I don't, because then I'd have to spend twice as long drawing them. All game icons are drawn at display resolution. As far as the "small pool of colors" is concerned, I think the problem is really that Haven uses a much too large pool of colors. Each object has it's own palette, horrible though it is. If I did this over again, I'd settle for like three or four main colors, and then use those for essentially everything. If you look at the piece you yourself posted, you can tell that it, really, uses only about three or four main colors. With that said, I admittedly do not like the style of any of the pieces you posted. Not arguing the relative proficiencies of the artists, but they're definitely not my cups of tea.

But I am a complete autodidact who hadn't drawn anything, really, before I started illustrating H&H. I'm learning new shit all the time.

I like grainy. It gives the game it's own style. It's not like photorealism is the ultimate goal in art.
