To be honest, I think that the 25x25 plots are actually fairly nice if you stick to a single profession. Of course, people will inevitably want to do different things, but nothing's stopping them from changing their profession to something different for a while, either.

The economy's still trying to take off (although coinage seems to circulate quite well at the moment), but we are still expecting more citizens to move in. Hell, I have a feeling that thousands of additional coins are about to start circulating any day now. I think we're about to go through a minor bottleneck before the economy goes in full swing.

I still laugh at people that think their silly coins will make an economy.

I still laugh at people who think others are trying to do something they never said they are trying to do. ;-)

I've gotta say, I don't think I've ever read a positive post from Avu. Sorry for the off topic tangent, but damn man do you hate life or is it just the entire human race that merits your ire? Maybe I just notice the negative posts because they're so contradictory with the happy kitty avatar.

And way to go actually trying new things yolan rather than the same old bartering bs. Creating money doesn't create an economy, but creating a demand for money does it nicely. Dunno how well its gonna go with iron (it lacks the OOH- SHINEY! factor) but good luck anyway.

I think the Romans or the Greeks used Iron as the Base metal for their coins...

I'd like to see a coin economy work, but it seems like it would be hard to do in this game. It would be easy to cause inflation from an outside source or accidentally due to the internal creation of new coin. People could literally "print money" and that is not a good thing. The potential sources of creation are many, while aspects of control are likely to be too few.

It doesn't really matter if we have inflation or deflation, as there are no banks, no loans, no credit ratings, no capital. If it happens drastically it could be annoying, as people have to go around resetting the prices on their stalls, etc., but thats unlikely. Iron can be sunk into many different concrete goods, plus there is the fact that we intend to keep increasing the population. The real challenge will probably be to spread round as much iron as people want.
