Has botting stopped? Have the botters all run away in shame? Have we come up with a solution? On the contrary, from what you all say it's only gotten worse, so what is the point of anyone bashing anyone or coming up with idea's to combat it that are simply not viable or just ignored anyway.

Um, how is that a reason to STOP discussion though, it sounds like the opposite...

There comes a point in any discussion that reaches a stalemate or where a solution can't be agreed upon that the discussion then becomes pointless, it's not like it hasn't been given every chance, how long has this been going on, W2, W3? We are in W7 now!

The expression 'flogging a dead horse' comes to mind, doesn't it.

The main thing these threads do, other than create arguments, is give new players the impression that the only way to play this game is to bot - yeah, great!

Yes, I see that point but does what I'm asking for in the other part of my post sound unreasonable to you? A response of some kind that could at least verify whether or not some, none or all of my concerns are valid not just now but also in the future.

That already happens in almost every nook and cranny of this forum. If anything, a thread like this should give new players the impression that not everyone agrees or is okay with it.

Yes, Kaios, that part I agree with 100%, it always disappoints me that the devs don't interject in these discussions but going on the few comments I have seen from Jorb they do try and work towards a solution, which we all know by now is not an easy task, so I would assume they are looking at ways to curtail it in Haven 2 - it would be nice for them to say so though.

:)

When Shazer posted I got this funny tingling feeling below the belt that it might just be Jorb being a douchebag. Idk anyone else who would have the appetite for this kind of "tears" and would post something like that, which is why I didn't bother to respond to that post. Although he tends to troll with his normal account just fine so it seems out of character for him to make a new one unless he is just avoiding being talked at.

I disagree. In my opinion, modifications made to the client are not something that truly exist within the game, whether or not the devs allow it. That is another reason why I'm so stubborn in relation to this topic.

I cant imagine anyone sticking to the vanilla client. nearly everyone uses a modified client in some way. I use the regular ender, but still, curios and forageables are highlighted, animals which could kill me come up red, I can avoid people whent hey appeal on my screen as dots, I can hide walls, I can make night time, day time, and so on. And I'm sure the majority use a way more sophisticated client, I'm just stuck in my ways and like what I know. but still the fact so many have modified the client is making my point, that it is doable, and has been shared for many worlds.

well I was referencing my own experience. I played 1 world with an unmodified client, which is the one through this forum page..in the dark...small screen...getting killed by boars...building fires or carrying torches inside caves etc...
until someone forced me to get enders in world 5, and the an updated enders in world 6 which is the basic one now which highlights people and forageables etc. but moving away from the regular client is to get modified clients, and that's been going a long while. but I understand that some are very sophisticated, and I know xcoms has a great one, amongst others who've put forward their own clients etc. and there is a lot more in them which supports people botting, and all that stuff, but that's all a build up from the starting point of a modified client and us using them in their varying formats, and the ability this game offers for clients to be heavily modified and usable within the game, which is the issue. because if we all had just 1 client, and we all used the exact same things, with no ability to customise or add things to it, it would change the gameplay drastically
