I would pay to watch two guys beat the living hell out of each other, and every now and then you could have public executions.

It should be mandatory for opponents to insult each other just before the match, that's the best part of WWE.

I'd pay 25 cavebulbs to watch a group of 30 skilled melee fighters KO each other in a free-for-all match at the Palisade Labyrinth. You know, that weird place built by an autist or sumthin. Near NB or so.

I've been there once. Spooky place, it is. Would make a lovely arena IMO.

I would pay for group fights (or free for alls) and I wouldn't mind participating at some point.

Wagers would also be a great entertainment, but you'd either have to be the "house" and have enough stuff to pay the winners or the bets would have to be done privately without any organisation on your part.

Also - I think the fights should be done in sparring mode. Like DoG said, how hard would it be to just add some sprite or something to declare a winner? Or maybe give him the cavebulb buff, that tell-tale glow? :)

As for the armors/weapons, I've got mixed feelings on this. On one hand, fights should be fair so that people without top gear but good skills could match the better geared players. On the other hand, players with good gear have gotten their gear FOR fighting reasons so you could argue that they should have that advantage. But for the latter case to be worthwhile to the contestants, the damage to armor from sparring would have to be removed.

Btw, why ISN'T it removed? I know I would LOVE to spar much more often with my friends if that didn't mean that our armors were getting beaten to crap.

thats a good idea. I favor this.
My proposal
Sparring: sparring is recommended. More Safe then real combat. However, no way of telling who won. So how about recording? Not only would this tell who wins, but it will promote the game attracting players.
Tournament
Different kind s of matches can be made. Like archery and meelee combat tourneys. Maybe both. It can be good combat practice for real war etc. Its a good idea but the way its set up isnt going to work.

Its fairly easy to see who won in sparring. Simply have the combatants simultaneously start a spar with a "judge", who can keep an eye on both combatants. The loser will drop the spar with the judge first upon being defeated, Its automatic, at least from my experience.

Would I participate? fuck yes. Though I'd prefer if it wasn't actual combat, leaving scents everywhere is just asking for foul play outside the arena.

As for spectating, see above, though i'd care less if it was combat or sparring.

In regards to the notes on equipment, have the person post a screenshot of their equip and inventory open. As far as supplying gear? I think that all combatants should be allowed to choose between an array of weapons, as per ancient arena's. But those weapons and armor should be of an equal and low quality. Since the armor will end up broken eventually. Remember, the Roman Colosseum didnt give their combatants top notch equipment. They got the barest of gear to prove their mettle as skilled warriors.

Powerful gear skews the measure of true skill. Thus shouldnt be used, unless its supplied equally to all combatants, which would get expensive fast... Maybe do such things for high stakes matches between known powerful fighters. Similar to a championship fight.
