You can't have 'more equality.' You either have equality, or you you have "less than equal." There are many parts of the world where you don't have any equality. However, I'm willing to put forth that, in general, the lack of equality in most Industrialized nations is more along economic bounds than race or sex. I'm not saying the parts don't highly correlate, but it's not a matter of getting an equal opportunity anymore, which is what the discussion is about.
@loftar: In my opinion, if a person (man or woman) wants to have a family and put family over job (which should be the case, in my opinion, for at least one person in said family, as someone has to make a living), then that person needs to expect and willing to take a lower wage or have a harder time finding work. On the other hand, being a woman shouldn't be a factor in your consideration OTHER than the plans to start a family. I mean, you're example is one where someone would have to dedicate six months, a year, two years, or possibly more to a single project, and the 'art' becomes as much as an engineering position as it does a creative position (iterative work, design within specifications, etc. etc.) with all the commitment to stay the course as a programmer on a game. What makes it even less of an issue would be if this person could work from home and still get a full workload done (at the same quality) at the same time as taking care of a newborn. This modern world... it blurs lines.
