Afaik Haven had the Dryad and the Trolls implemented when the plan was to make H&H a fantasy experience, like with magic and wizards. So they are leftovers of the past just like the Necromancer Cloak or the design of the Lawspeaker Hat.
Please correct me if that's wrong tho.

Also: What I liked about Salem which I feel is worth a mention is that the world was filled with more stuff. Lots of different animals, lots of different stuff to pick up and find. Oh, and there were plenty of these resources all over your screen.
Would be cool if there was such a variety of stuff to find in H&H as well. But that's basically the same as simply saying "add more content!", so meh.

I think the TbC is an... interesting system. It's not what I'd have done, but I don't hate the essence of mechanics that afford less protection for the wicked. I do think the TbC has created a small fear of leaving scents around which, at least, has elements to it that are healthy.

Haven has always had "fantastic" elements as part of its design, and continues to do so. They are fairly low-key, but that is not for a disdain or dislike of fantasy, but simply because the fantastic ceases to be thus when it's everywhere.

This I love about Haven. You flirt with mythology and lore without delving deep into it. :D

You know what would be awesome? Giant impassable forests of trees. It Would be cool carving a little home in the middle of a dark damp forest, that none can enter.
Maybe some shrouded creatures that make upsetting sounds too.

This is what it would look like i imagine.

Early world exploit: Put your hearthfire inside a cave, then hold shift to position a claim right in front of a cave. After 8 hours the claim will be unbreakable. Since your hearthfire is inside the cave, you can still get back inside, and leave, but nobody will be able to enter, effectively making you unraidable for the first 3-7 days. Enjoy

Are thickets not enough?

Branching off of what overtyped said, I did enjoy the "Darkness" in Salem and it would be interesting to see something similar perhaps in such a setting as he described in his post.

I liked the idea, just not the execution. There was not really anything interesting about it in salem besides "lulz creepy creatures" and spooky darkness that required stats to walk in.

I liked the farming system itself, I just didn't like how it tied into crafting, ie tons of recipes requiring specific versions of a crop. I think it would've been a lot better if any tier worked for anything, but different ones gave different bonuses.

the other stuff like camera rotation, etc. doesn't matter that much but the one thing I hate the most in salem and do not want to take part in hafen in any way is the Pay2win mechanics. Please don't ruin hafen with p2w
