From what I understand, whether anyone here agrees or disagrees with the reasoning behind the kick or ban or whatever happened, it's not a public channel. If they make a rule that you must sacrifice a jelly doughnut on an altar of rat skulls, then so be it. If you don't like it, nobody is forcing you to use a goon channel. All other arguments are at a moot point.

It is in the Public resources topic therefore considered public by many.

Also he's not permabanned and never was. Again read the things that have been posted instead of the whines by the same 3/4 people and you might actually have a clue as to what is going on.

edit: also please do realise that the English language actually heavily utilises the letter C instead of K. Use firefox with a spell checker!

edit 2: rules that are linked in the topic of the channel: http://haven.pastebin.com/5SxiETjE Get it? they are a joke but also serious.

Ok im gonna disregard your hostility by the fact you seem to be only seeing red atm.
If you had understood what i actually wrote, you would have known that i was refering to a post i had written before there was any resolution made and clearafying what lead up to that post.
And there was infact for a wile a reason to actually think he was permbanned due to this statement

However you have allready showed you are a reasonable moderator as you have also stated before, becouse you changed your mind in this case and unbanned him, when the guy came to hes senses.
So i am well aware of the fact that this particular case was resolved.

Reason for my last post was not to discuss you or this case in particular since the case is allready solved and closed. So we can leave that behind now.
_______________________________________________________________________________

Main reason for my post was rather to discuss IRC manners in general with everyone wich often tends to be forgotten at times, and with that i also refer to the public itself how they behave, and how to avoid IRC wars escalating in general, to maybe hopefully come up with some ideas and sollutions as to keep both the public and the moderators happy, now and in the future aswell.

So you do have some rules afterall, tbh i havent even noticed them before, hmmm after i have read them now i get the impression there are not that many real specific rules to follow exept for the "do as the moderator says" basically, wich completley leaves the moderators to come up with whatever rules they feel like atm. it doesnt really help the public to stay inline since the lines can change at any point depending what moderator is on or what mood he is in. it doesnt really help to prevent conflicts.

if even you feel the rules are a joke how is anyone else gonna be able to take them serious? why not look them over a bit when you have some time and make them a bit more useful? an idea might be to make a link to them on the public resource stickie, maybe try one of those add bots to advertise the rules link once every our or something like that on the server. Maybe rename the end of the ruleslink to make it clearer that the link actually is about Rules and not something else.

I don't see how it matters if it's listed in public resources. It is not owned by Jorb and Loftar, nor is it owned by the general public. It is owned by the goons. Their house, their rules.

public or not, goons still rule over it, the name IS stupid, but not a real reason to ban, now that acting like a asshole/moron might be one. you dont like the stuff, get away from it, or try and make a new one, its pointless arguing, anyway, is not that hard to get on their rules, as if it was hard to use a diff nick, i myself was banned for using a stupid name, not like i cant change it, and not like you all cant stop saying bs, lets be honest, reason why you all continue to is because you wanna piss em off, they ban you, you make a post on how unfair it is.

I bitched about the channel way before I was ever banned. The procedures are still terrible.

Every post or thread about 'we want to help make it better' is also bullshit to make it look like they're actually trying, they aren't.

That's only half true, it depends on who writes it :p. I care about the channel and listen to all the issues being raised here, I just want the channel to be a place where you can discuss ingame and rl happenings without the steady flow of stupid that sprouts forth out of the internet (Saying this as a goon is the very definition of irony isn't it?). This is why I'll always be against stupid names and retarded abbriviations. I'm a big fan of being an elitist prick. One of the reasons why I wish everyone in the channel was more like Avu :V (no sarcasm).

I also don't feel comfortable with handing out power (not like I even have a say in that) to other factions because I see it as an invite to trouble. Even though I could name quite a few people I wouldn't have a problem with being channel mods and might to a better job than the current ones.
Trouble as in intrigues which is something I don't give a shit about and want to avoid ever from happening and trouble as in plenty of rules. I like the no rule approach. if you start working with other mods however you will have to formulate rules and have shittons of drama and internal power struggles because of that. And again, fuck that.
Even though the current situation isn't ideal, it 's better than the alternatives.

No, it really isn't better than alternatives. I've seen and run both faction-run rooms and game run rooms for several games, typically bigger than this but some smaller (like UO second age).

The biggest problem with the current system is that people don't go to IRC to remember WHO bans for fun or who doesn't, to remember WHO is the 'good' mod, and who kicks because you said something like 'bagels suck' and they like bagels more than anything. No one enjoys doing that, it's a pain in the ass, and serves no problem. When there are rules, ops are held to at least some standard, and at least you can talk with someone 'higher up' because there are actual rules.

Does this piss off the actual ops/hops that they can't do whatever the fuck they want? Yes, it does to smoe extent because you can't kick the guy being a prick because he didn't really do anything wrong and will start whining about being banned. However, it also keeps that guy who's being a prick(as you see it) from getting banned because he thinks bagels are not the best breakfast meal.

Being unbanned really did nothing for me, the room is just as bad as it was before I was banned, and sometime before that (like I said it hasn't even been fun idling in there, I get on, readback 100 or so lines and it's all just boring, no one says much all you typically see are joins/quits), nothing like it was before all the first tyrant thread started.

There are some moderators who flourish in a no rules setup, such as yourself, but there are others (Squidgy comes to mind given the excessive bitching about him and the 'doing nothing' other than jumping in to ban people) who simply don't.

P.S. The only reason I see left to use the channel is to get newbies for trades, since apparantely the average person doesn't know how to click 'forum'.
