meh i go in there pretty often lately - they seem ok but some talk like kids so when I get silent it's usually because I'm controlling myself from being a bit douchey because they don't even have pubes, first day there I was accused of being a troll... so they may not be the most trusting bunch - they sure don't say many hi and byes in the public screen.
But if you find malice in their acts... what is keeping you from creating your own room with your own moderation?
I promise you this is not the first time that someone made an irc room, there are lots of free networks to use :D
