Hmm... I think murdering defenseless noobs and raiding for supplies are different personality traits regardless.

Windforce wrote:Not always true, you can be a weak skinny guy with no friends in real life, but in a game you can be the meanest baddest guy known, why? Cause they can. I have played many MMOs and met those ppl irl, and the person behind the screen isnt always the person you make them out to be.

I wasn't referring to physical appearance, obviously people look different IRL than their in game characters. Orcs and Turen don't actually play World of Warcraft. :D

I was more interested in the players personality. I think there is a relation to how you behave IRL, and what you do in game. I bet a lot of it is based on group mentality and peer pressure too.

Could be wrong, maybe the guys that murdered my noob characters were actually nuns and monks IRL.

Not saying physical apperance either, just saying cause someone is a asshole mass murderer doesnt mean hes that irl. I've met many friends/people form past MMO I played. In game, everyone was at each other's thoats guilds VS guild , forum full of trolls and drama, but when yo actually met them irl and talk to them they rnt the "mass murdering, <your guild name> hater they seem to be."
Forum r for drama, and ppl love drama, but irl not all of them are how they are in-game. Just saying.

I see people behavior in game as a measure of their true self stripped of all the fear of consequences.

Yes. If I didn't already have a sig, I'd use this, it's a spectacular line, and so godamn true, Would people call me "black prez! stupid amermeican ENGLISH!!!" or whatever point they are desperately trying to get across, if there was a robot fist attached to every computer monitor?

(also, yes, that is a specific line)

Well, I personally killed noobs in hopes someone picks up the murder scents and tracks me, so I can engage in the spectacular rush of fights in this game. No matter what it is, me just senslesly murdering some noob, skirmishing with other villages, ducking out from a particularly nasty 1v4, as long as I am engaging in those game mechanics, I am having fun. A day after a raid, I got to farm and feed the cows, and I think to myslef, this will never be as fun as raiding those doods last night =/

I enjoy the combat system, and raiding. I personally like it when my victims are online, but them being offline wont' stop me either (torn between progressing, and just being stupid). And yes, in real life, when I see people in linen pants/clothes and a top hat, the first thing I do is run at them and punch them.

I personally talk completely politely to everyone
i meet and hold doors open for about everyone.
I write poetry, tell people stories and use my
insanely deep voice to make kids laugh. I convince
people not to kill themselves and do my best
to be as kind as i possibly can to everyone in
my life, because i can't even begin to imagine
some of the things people go through everyday.

However, in game i look for a challenge so that
i can forget about all the things wrong with the
world and all the sadness, suffering, and sad
truths of our current society. I find that challenge
in the combat system that has so many twists
and turns and possibilities.

Yeah, i'm a brutal, backstabbing, pants stealing,
fire breathing, soul stealing, ginger bunny in game.

Well Avu, while there is less fear and consequence, they are not completely gone, it's ingame fear for ingame consequences and dangers.
Which would mean that a horrible mass murderer in h&h like for example NaoWhut (lol) wouldnt neccesarily be a murdering monster in real life, or even have the same mind sets. If you're killing someone in real life you're killing them, but if you kill someone in this game, they will get upset and annoyed and angry, but not dead.

Unless what sabinati says is true:

then I agree, fuck those people.
