Anything lost can be regained with ample time. Bots just make it easier to come back when you lose a character. Imho mindless timesinks are no fun. i want to get to the endgame and PVP faster.

(as a side note, sniping is one of the primary reasons I'm reevaluating the way I play this game)

Would you consider them changing the farming to be more interesting, so there is more incentive to partake in that, rather then run around killing people? Or Botting as a matter of fact.

I want farming to be more meaningful, or make it automated. Bots are lame. Read what Burgingham wrote, because I agree that the old days is what is the golden standard for how the community should evolve. There will always be power guilds / factions / villages. However, random killing should be reduced. Wilderness kills are okay imho, but random snipes while inside of a fort is just dumb. We all want more intelligent PvP, and thats the exact opposite of what we have now.

This thread is me debating if I want to add to the shitfest that we already have at hand (ie the pk rampage idiotic botting mess), or just throw in the towel. At least one person thinks that no matter what we do, no change will come anytime soon. Even if I were to release EZ-mode bots for all the noobs, and 99% of players become bots, it won't really change anything at all. Pkers will just be more bored killing afk bots instead of random noobs.

Maybe the solution is to ban bots, and increase security for peaceful toons.

You should probably re read what Burgingham said, or look at his older posts.

Except for Burgingham, who suggested combat system be removed and have it purely stat based, punch untill one dies, the one with higher stats wins.

For all those who still don't get it: This game was never made to be a PvP game. Open permadeath PvP is just a necessary mechanic to support the kind of social, economic and political simulation the game aims to be. The community and some very unbalanced mechanics have made that game go to shit though and create a broken sport hunting game frankly of which there are better ones out there if that is the game you are aiming for.

If it were up to me I would remove the entire combat system from the game and just make it an exchange of punches letting the higher number win till the day the devs find time to implement something real. That would make the game at least somewhat go back to its roots.

Seems slightly off topic, but OPs goal seems to be to engage in PvP and for that to use bots.

This is what I was talking about. Also, his suggestion to simplify the pvp combat system was just temporary until the ideal system can be implemented. I don't think I said anything to the contrary.

I don't know what he's talking about, it is a sand box game, if you download the client and start playing there is nothing telling you that you should strive for this, only Burgingham is. Granted in world 3 I was brick bashed and killed for doing it, and in world 4 my friend was tracked and killed by Winterfell, burning me out for the rest of W4, W5 we were palibashed losing our infrastructure and falling out for a good part of it, that;s just the raider life style. This world it is quite rewarding, but if Jorb and Loftar change it, I will "probably" keep doing it, even if it returns to the older ways.

You are describing more of reasonable pvp - killing for purpose and reason. Kills should be based on politics, economics, and justice. Your palisade should be your sanctuary that protects your farmers unless you get bashed. As it stands now, everything is so impermanent that I think it promotes botting because of the deep emphasis on killing just for killings sake. There are much better pvp games if you just want to kill (for instance, I just got done playing a game of HoN)

At least Jester is reading my posts properly and doesn't let himself drive by some hate that comes from god knows where on your side Valten. I am sorry if I offended you with anything, but so far I have just been sharing my observations on the games state.

I want combat to be simplified until a proper solution is found, yes. To get out everyone that is playing only for the sake of killing people.

Also, while the game is a sandbox there were some underlying assumptions and foundations the devs had and made. These are not given anymore in my eyes or at least are far too easy to be toyed around with. I am pretty sure if you ask them if they made this game as another team vs team hunt just with permadeath that they would say no then. The game is mostly a simulation that needs combat to simulate certain interactions or to carry out punishment. Nobody is saying raiders, barbarians, thieves shouldn't exist in a versatile game world. However they should not dominate it and let every single person have to focus their entire gaming time around this aspect of the game. That was probably always one of HnHs problems. Endgame is PvP and nothing else.

I think they should just get rid of the whole "0 defence weight while moving" thing, because it wasn't a good idea to begin with. Penalty, sure, but flat out instakill is just wrong. Combat should be about player skill, and reflexes ain't a skill.

Always comes together with skill. Traning/sparrings/actual pvp grows your reflexes as well as skills :)

Generally, player's behavior is affected by the game mechanics. Dis simply does not need to be allied with anyone who has not got any high quality resource nodes (are too hard to be taken without certain consequences). What is the point allying with weak who cannot help you much but eats your brains once they happen to be in a trouble because of their newbiness? Yes, it's social, political and etc. But it's totally pointless for stronger factions. Just a waste of time and energy. So I see it as a shame blaming one in declining doing useless things. Politics would be possible if the character loss would be a catastrophe (whereas Pandemonium had a battle-char fabric last world), if killing someone would take much longer time, if the siege system would not be so grotesque and etc.-etc. How can we enjoy quality raises if at certain moment the quality stuck eventually?

Reflexes are a stat, not a skill :P

But seriously, I've been gaming pretty much constantly, and yet me from 10 years ago could micro circles around the present me. So no, I wouldn't agree you can improve them much though practice.

I've been gaming for a long time as well. Still sure reflexes are something like a muscle. More you're training more things you'll see and feel :P
