Derped construction always sticks with me...I found a settlement the other day with quite a complicated layout of brick wall...Lots of corners and such...in the end, they left one tile for the gate.... *dough!*

I wish I had taken a screenshot, it was really quite the construction....

i did my pali once recently as a very small square, really quite small, i planned to go underground and build my home down there, and have the above ground as a farm, but i only left one space for the gate because when pali building i'm in trance mode -.- so i ended up with a little jutting bit with the gate in it, i'd also post a screen but i'm busy being a good employee or something o.0

as for me, it was locking myself on lvl 4 for 3 days that was a sad time...

Those of us that started in w3 and could survive with just a claimed roundpole fence learned this one the easy way. Don't know how many times I screwed up that fence trying to build it. Now, when I go to build any wall, I make sure to put construction signs up so that I can't go any farther. Pro tip, there, kids!
