Perfect from our perspective. Reverse goldilocks. The environment selected for the best suited organism and ended up with us. Crick is (or rather was) an authority on the structure of DNA, nothing more, and this applies to all scientists and professionals; their knowledge is limited to an intensely shining sliver of human knowledge and extrapolating from that to other fields will not end well. Don't ask an engineer to invest money in the stock market and don't ask a professor of economics to design a plane.

The only thing that matters is what is said, not who says it.

And man, nostalgia for the first forum I posted on seriously (+3000 posts). Nothing but science/paranormal/psuedoscience debates, all day erry day.

1. The Earth - a perfectly sized, perfectly balanced ecosystem to support human life. Consider the temperature swings we encounter, roughly -30 degrees to +120 degrees. If the Earth were any further away from the sun, we would all freeze. Any closer and we would burn up. And our moon is the perfect size and distance from the Earth for its gravitational pull. The moon creates important ocean tides and movement so ocean waters do not stagnate, and yet our massive oceans are restrained from spilling over across the continents.

Your temperature theory is in-correct. On Earth there are still places of extreme cold that humans can not live. On mars the temperatures are habitable for humans and there has been water found on mars in it's solid form. Mars could easily be habitable if humans introduced air and could get a colony set up (which would take too much money right now) and after a while mars would not seem as much of a difference. Furthermore, Humans have evolved to be able to sustain life on Earth. Our brains changed, our senses changed, our responses changed, and our bodies changed (appendix?). There are multiple moons on different planets as well and the moon is not perfect either, continents still flood and there are natural disasters. Science is still science even if religious people believe science is just trying to go against their beliefs. Many people who believe in a god, still believe that things have never evolved (Im talking about constant evolution, not how humans came to become on Earth) even if they have no evidence, while science has records dating back to the B.C's.

My temperature statement is fact not theory. Your statement about Mars bears no merit because as you said it would have to be setup by some force for human life to exist. Kind of like how Earth was "setup" to allow human life to exist.

Again, I want to reiterate that I don't believe in religion per se. Just a force greater than ourselves, whatever it may be. Science and evolution exist. They just aren't the only forces to affect human existence. Spirituality has many forms and faith can be as amorphous as a scientific theory. Believing in something that can never be proven or unproven - That is true faith and I prefer to put such a thing into my own sense of reality rather than the lack of permanent fact. Science is imperfect and constantly being re-written just as the Bible and other religious texts are. There are no fundamental yes/no answers in this debate, but I see very few counter replies to my simple statements to warrant any real change in my philosophy.
