Top 5 funny things in this thread.

1: Digging up random facts off the internet and using them as if they were scientifically validated

2: People using interpreted quotes from the Bible as if that was the exact meaning that writer had.

3: People thinking that gay-bashing is purely a Christian activity. (Muslims, anyone?)

4: People adding interesting scientific data to try and back up psychological beliefs from 50 years. (Not saying the science is wrong... but you know what happens when you give raw data to chimps? They scratch their asses with it and then eat the papers.)

5: Individuals coming across as haters and not getting banned for it (at least they're being honest on a primary account instead of trolling with alts)

And yes, Ignus... DO EET!! Since we all seem to be taking this time capsule trip backwards to the 70s, I think we should go back to the 1920s, too. Heck, maybe we should revisit 1850s America while we're at it... (lets don't and not even think about it, ok? Oh, wait... I just have to visit certain countries in the world and I do it all at once. Amazing!)

It may be worth noting that I am the bastard child and the bible says very clearly:
Deuteronomy 23:2
“No one born of a forbidden union may enter the assembly of the Lord. Even to the tenth generation, none of his descendants may enter the assembly of the Lord. "

That being said I have pretty much no interest in the Christian religion. Also the beginning of my post was mostly humoring the thought that buggery is something we need to worry in a world full of divorce, inter-racial marriage, unbeaten children, wives not being treated as property, condoms etc etc...

And even if buggery for some reason is above every other wrong against the bible, the bible should have no hold on the law. I will admit there are good things in that book and some fine moral guidelines but unless we strip out many of the books in the old testament the bible has too much hate to be used as the backbone of any modern nation.

Aren't Christians absolved from following Deuteronomy and Leviticus after Christ died on the cross for them for the express purpose of ridding the world of the old ways? Isn't Leviticus the book that condemns gays? Please correct me if I'm mistaken.

It's really a complicated subject, I cannot think of anywhere that directly says that those books no longer apply but it is a very commonly held belief so it must be somewhere. In action it seems that only the rules that no longer conform with the modern Christians beliefs are the ones that are ignored and anything that they can use as an excuse to continue hating a specific group is upheld.

To be fair, it also says that eating shellfish is abomination...If so, I'm gonna burn in hell for eating crawfish and shrimp.

The bible is built around fear and hate and people follow it like its truth.

I see a lot of opinions but I have 1 question to all those that think people shoulden't have rights.

What would happen to you if gays had rights? Does it effect you at all? If not then why do you care, if they go to hell then they go to hell right?
Certainly, in taking revenge, a man is but even with his enemy; but in passing it over, he is superior; for it is a prince’s part to pardon. - A wise friend.

Don't forget about pork, and venison, and fish without scales (catfish, shark, etc)....

This. If one were to follow strictly the teachings of Christ and throw out the other 62 books of the Bible, one would know everything that is needed to know to get into Heaven: get baptized, follow the golden rule, and love God before all others.

Also, there's several examples in both the old and new testaments about "condemning gays". edit: none of which, that I can recall, were ever spoken by Christ.

eh... so is gangsta rap. Fear and hate are natural human emotions that are nearly impossible to destroy. (Just the act of trying to do so only encourages it further.)

Gays have rights. Some things, such as marriage, really isn't a right, but some socio-religious recognized legal position that really doesn't have a place in the world outside of religion. At best these are privileges, at worst, social conventions that really need to pass on along with the rest of ancient history.

Actually it isn't allowed to 'bash-gays' or whatever in the Islam, the Quran says we should respect other people. A gay can turn into a straight person and can become a muslim, thats why we aren't aloud to abuse people.
