Sorry for the late answer, I've been pretty busy as of late.

I don't think there's a single legal job that has a worse ratio between the toll it takes on its workers and the benefits it provides to society.

Trapeze artist, crab fisherman, diamond miner.

In my country, crabs are fished using this :

and the dangers of this trade aren't very different than any other kind of fishing.

As for diamond miners (and, generally speaking, all sorts of jobs made in third world countries for the benefit of first world countries), I'm not sure they're inherently dangerous (for a comparison, see the evolution of danger and work-related diseases in european mines throughout the XXth century), but I'm pretty sure there would be a case for regulation if the country could afford it, and there is certainly a need for wealth transfert from first world to these countries. But don't get me started on globalisation.

I must admit my lack of knowledge about trapeze artists, though.

(I rarely watch documentaries ; they have a very poor time-information ratio).

I'm talking about this kind of crab fishing:

That's fairly standard weather in Bering Sea. So would you say this should be prohibited by law?

And all mining *is* inherently dangerous. If you put all the engineers in the world into a single mine, they still wouldn't be able to predict every cave-in. And I really fail to see the practical benefits of diamond mining, considering artificial diamonds are superior. As for wealth transfer, yeah right, you have no clue how the third world works, do you?

Tbh, I had also wondered why you had included crab fishing, I admit I know nothing about it and have never seen the programme you referenced, but that picture explains it all!
