Ah Its still a shame you can no longer hide in the black of night from people chasing you or just leg it behind a tree and hope the game of peek a boo did not turn against you. Custom clients really took that old night time feel out of the game with I wish was never done.

Besides a village or even just a small settlement lit up at nighttime just looked right, small beacon of civilization in an otherwise dark and empty world.

Now we got this murk of night time rarely seen with the clients night vision,no need for miner helms down in the depths.

Would there even be a point to day and night cycles in haven2 apart from what fish are available at times

I agree that the custom clients and their tools are useful of course but they did take as much from the game as they added.

meaks me sad :|

I agree. It would be really cool to have real night-time darkness that isn't eye-straining and prevents clients from being told about objects that are too dark to be seen.

Maybe with Hafen, if we're really lucky...

I really hope that in Hafen will be real rain, and do not turn off night.

I will return in the game. Looks very cool

Well ... :(
I really hope we dont have dark nights, with my eyes I would not be able to play.

If handled well it shouldn't be blinding. Ideally dark nights should add ambiance and provide incentives to light up your city and roads, perhaps even masking some nocturnal creatures in natural camouflage. The filter that Haven has suffers from obscuring everything with the only counter being lights that are hardly worth bothering with.

why even use night vision if you disagree with it so much?

I remember this being a real issue back in w3, when custom clients were not widely known yet. I played with a few of real life friends and we had irc channel, it was always like
"-hey, lets go get some bears
-no! it's night, don't log in"
Night in Haven was always really painful for your eyes before nightvision came. We used to make alts to place hfs all around the village, so atleast indoors activities would be possible at night. Candles, torches and usual fires are great ofcourse, but not so much when it is your everyday routine.

(21:40:14) <Oddity> cool
(21:40:36) <loftar> Not to mention I'm on my way to have a new, better tiling model working for Hafen.
(21:40:44) <loftar> So things are good. :)
(21:41:04) <Oddity> How will it be better?
(21:41:13) <loftar> Well, in a couple of ways.
(21:41:30) <loftar> But the teaser feature I'm advertising it to Jorb with is that ridges no longer have to be straight lines, as they are in Salem.
(21:42:11) <Oddity> I'd like to see screenshots when you can do that :)
(21:42:42) <loftar> Perhaps. :)
(21:43:06) <loftar> I'm just a bit worried about putting up screenshots for people to hype around when the whole thing still possibly quite a bit away.

April 02, but I was too lazy to post it at the time.

#salem wrote:(18:04:21) <loftar> Right now I'm still a bit too busy with other things, however. I've been trying to get Hafen to a point where we can start implementing content for it, and I think we should be there rather soon.
