Maybe the way forward is to revert back to what was half-good and try to fix it again in a different way instead of trying to fix the fix...

What's the difference? We still have to actually decide on something to implement.

The difference is we can have fun doing some PVP until you come up with a combat system that is better than the current one and the w6 one.

But I'm afraid you guys don't know how the system you've made actually works. You cant judge how broken it is. Sorry but its true. You decided to nerf movement hits and yet it was never a big deal. Yes some people claimed they can abuse it but that was happening so rarely that changing the whole system because of it was really unreasonable. Killing a developed character with a 2 melee alt? Less likely than winning a lottery.
Meanwhile the biggest problem with combat was boat abusing. And it still is. Because real combat is not about stances and movement hits and other fancy things its about boating. You will never learn it from sparring nude in the middle of your palisade but this is what happens in 99% of cases. You meet your opponent, he's on a boat, you're on a boat as well. What you gonna do? Cant hit him, cant stop him. You cant do anything. The only way is to block him with more boats so you call your friends on skype and ask them to come. At the same time your opponent is calling his friends. So if your friends come faster you could try to block your opponent, if your opponent's friends come faster, they would try to block your boat with their alts so your target can go out of render and port home. Or they can wait for him on a parallel river and pick him up there. In this case he will have to run through the land and jump in the boat driven by his buddy. This scenario is a bit more risky cuz its involving on ground chasing but most of the people can handle that.
And even if you're lucky to meet your opponent away from rivers and you mange to come close enough to hit still doesnt mean you can kill him. Because even in world 6 movement hits were not easy to perform. Here you can see how one can run for a few minimaps not getting hit https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AHurCK9lw0Y. So in w6 we were struggling with the system and sometimes manage to kill someone with a movement hit. And now even if you manage to hit your opponent in motion it doesnt even damage him. And the next hit will probably happen after 2 minutes of chasing? Or maybe it will never happen? Maybe he will find a boat left by some noob? Could you at least fix that? Because you just need to reduce the distance and its just... 1 number in code? Could you do that?

The silent treatment is a great way to deal with community ideas and opinions imho.

TBH, W7 combat is way more broken than W6 combat

I'm sure all members of the community capable of cohesive thinking, very much appreciate your attempts at fixing the currently rather broken system Jorbtar.
However I have to agree that there seems to be some merits to reverting to a system that the majority of the current ,player versus player-focused, playerbase
preffers to the current one.
I think unfortunately the new system was based off of some level of misinformation that stems from a majority of the playerbase that wanted to avoid getting murdered in pvp, but not actually partake in such activities. While the current system definitely acomodates that to some degree, it seems to have hurt the longevity of the game and politics for some members of the playerbase by limiting their ability to effectively pit themselves against their enemies (and or achieve a sense of finality regarding a conflict. To paraphrase one of your quotes Jorb).

These are simply my two cents, as we're all apparently aware that the decision is ultimately up to you guys, and what you find to be the best for this iteration of haven while you work on the development of the new one.
