Considering everyone here flames, i thought id atleast tell them where they're going wrong. They say UO looks shit but link images to games that look like they shouldn't have released. They also say this is a "private server" as i said, This is a network open for thousands running off a dedicated host. THIS game is ran from a home network... Who has the private server lol..

I never knew i couldn't defend myself vs kids on a forum :/

Wow, this thread is very... fascinating. I feel compelled to offer a few comments. :)

First of all, it seems that you actually lack understanding for the simple fact that people's values are subjective and that, therefore, different people value various aspects of games differently. You actually speak as if UO is objectively better than Haven, not in terms of such objectively measurable metrics such as stability or completeness, but in terms of game mechanics. Is it so completely unfathomable to you as you make it seem, that there may be some people, somewhere on Earth, that find Haven more interesting than UO?

Furthermore, your description of UO and your praise of the features you describe makes it obvious that you have not even tried Haven beyond, at most, a few minutes. (How else could you write such things as "The pros to UO is basically, you're free in the world and everything you do will reflect on a certain outcome. It also is risk vs reward, you may mine or fight monsters, but at the same time you must also watch your back because you can be killed / looted.", praise it, and in the next breath disparage Haven as being worse than Pacman despite it sharing that exact attribute?) Given that, can you really say that you are in a position to offer critique, at all?

As for the graphics, it is obvious that appreciation of such is subjective too, but I think you should at least be able to agree that people don't play UO for the looks either. There are also rather objective critique that can be aimed at UO's graphics; for one thing, its obviously pre-rendered 3D graphics (which I'm pretty sure is what Rhiannon referred to as "hybrid") that use repeating textures without even any doodahs, and its complete lack of shading (even angular shading). Also, as other posters have pointed out, its perspective is weird in some odd way that makes my head hurt. As for the subjective part of the graphics, I can surely say that I, for one, prefer Haven's graphics (even from Jorb's earlier days) to UO.

Despite all these critical and obvious flaws in your argumentation, you still appear to find it odd that people don't agree with you outright. You even seem to think that you advertise your private server, rather than making a fool of yourself. I cannot but wonder: whence does this confidence spring? (While the question may seem rhetorical, I'd really appreciate an answer to it. Just for the sake of my endless curiosity.)

I could hardly put it better myself.

Oh, and by the way:
Rhiannon wrote:There are a couple girls here sweety, even with the testosterone level, my best friend also plays (Another girl), so yeah I don't think we are the only 2 girls at H&H.

Right. Listen up kids, lest ye forget: This is the Internet, where men are men, women are men, and children are FBI agents. ;)

And last, but by no means least:
Jackard and Seizure wrote:this thread would have been funnier if it had no replies -- You know several people here cannot resist flaming others for little reason. -- theyve got no sense of style about it, though :?

Thank you, for showing us true style in flaming. :)
