I don't know... with Starbound I'm always waiting for that one special update that makes the game complete. But it never arrives.

Whatever happened to the intros and the lore? I could do with less random features and more of a mission. Not so much "here dude, you're stranded with a broken spaceship, just make up a shitty background story for yourself (about pretty much anything you find in the game) and build some bases and collect things". At least base-building actually seems viable now with the teleporters. I don't understand why they didn't deliver it ages ago. Unlike the million other random additions this actually adds some meaning to the game, a goal for players to work for.

And so I regularily check their site but I never play the game. It's nice to read the news they release though. I tried their big update in january but the game didn't feel much different at all (still some kind of a random mess without a shape). The only thing that tickles me are the ocean planets. I want to crawl around on the bottom of the sea and make my special secret hidden base.

They're fleshing out lore and the like quietly bit by bit. There's a lot more in-game lore and the story is technically progressing although it leads to a bunch of giant statues and a dead end right now. Most of their work over the last year seems to have gone towards redoing combat a few times and improving enemy/npc/pet AI. Don't take this as me saying the game is perfect and great, but what you're asking for is slowly coming together. I think the emphasis is on sandbox play and features versus story mode at this stage of development though.

There has been criticism of too much focus on superfluous content, and that they are wasting the game's great potential by abandoning survival and roleplay elements in favor of hundreds of hats, swords, hammers, spears, etc. I agree with that: the devs keep boasting on their blogs about "look at these awesome weapons we made" or "new green tiles! awesome!", which shows what is it that they care about. I've read that previous versions of the game even had hunger mechanics, which was supposedly removed.

To be fair, they do intend to add a sort of colonization feature in a future update. That means NPCs would spawn inside houses depending on the theme you build them in. That's just it though, nothing really game-changing.

I'm much more interested in updates from this: http://starcommandgalaxies.com/

Early world exploit: Put your hearthfire inside a cave, then hold shift to position a claim right in front of a cave. After 8 hours the claim will be unbreakable. Since your hearthfire is inside the cave, you can still get back inside, and leave, but nobody will be able to enter, effectively making you unraidable for the first 3-7 days. Enjoy

Map filtered by dynasty and family name. I was breeding Venators to take over Europe, one marriage at a time.

The poor Njerpez never saw it coming.

Much later on, I kind of went on a rampage. 2 stags and 8 Njerpez were found dead that day. The vagabond hunter is blissfully unaware of what has happened that night.

A little Java game called Pixel Piggy I'm working on. Not sure when or if it'll get finished, but I'm having a lot of fun programming this :)
The core idea is that you and everything around you exists out of one "pixel" (squares). You spawn in a tiny area where you have to survive. It might not seem to have a lot of content, but it will, I have tons of ideas :D

White pixel with black outline is the player.
Pink pixel with green (friendly) outline is a pig.

It's also random mapgen.

Hope you have a great day
