I understand your point, but I don't need a reason to build something in Minecraft. I just like to build things.
DF is not multiplayer, but if we are talking about reasons to build something epic then it's a perfect example. In H&H you just can't design and build something that would be close to regular fortress in DF.

Like... two years ago, I think. Templars all the way!

Oh, and since Shadowrun was mentioned earlier, found yet ANOTHER one in the works...

Hey guys, it's me again, that guy from http://www.greccaonline.com/. We've had quite a few players from here wanting to try it out and (un)surprisingly you guys don't ragequit within 5 seconds of getting into a killed. Even more, it's been fun having people who can put up a good fight for once.

I made a simple short video for you guys of me being chased by two gankers.

The only videos that I saw on the website were focused on PvP. What is the rest of the game like?

You go to various places and gather materials. All of which is currently in the form of pressing B next to things. There's no animations or timers for any of the actions related to gathering or crafting right now sadly nor do things require tools like pickaxes or hatchets. (Though you need an iron hammer to do any blacksmithing and you'll need to use an anvil) So, besides combat the rest of the game revolves around running around the world map gathering, going back to a town and crafting it into goodies.

In the next patch you'll be able to get a faction deed and claim a part of the world map for your town. You'll need to do a lot of mats though it's best to get started asap. You can currently get a house in an existing faction. Houses cost no materials to build right now but in exchange are pretty basic and small.

Overall the game is very alpha and most systems are still being developed. But the devs are hinting towards no wipe going into full release so all your hard work won't be erased.
