Edd's quit was less than 24h, and I'm 100% sure this is by far the fastest :)

we call that "50 steps and 100 steps".

Once upon a time in China, people used to bang drums when a war was breaking out.
One day, someone banged a drum, and people started to put armors on to fight.
One soldier threw his armor and weapon away and started to run. He ran for 100 steps and stopped.
Another did the same and ran for 50 steps and stopped.
The man who ran for 50 steps laughed at the man who ran for 100 steps for being a coward.
What would you say to this?

Hmm...

I would say we all run now and again - not just from HnH but from life... from morality... from righteousness...

From being good. I mean, yeh, sure, most of us don't murder, or fuck someone's wife, so we think we're pretty good for it.

But what about the times when we treat people like shit? Or grunt at an old person because they're slow, or a young kid because he's annoying? What about the times when we eat too much, or just sit around at home doing nothing?

I mean... shit. We all does little things like that. Is that good? Or is there something better we all could be doing? And when I say "we all" I mean "we all", including me. Perhaps especially me, since I should know and do better, since I have a reasonable hope.

But before I turn this into something like a letter from Paul, I'll cut myself off and just say WELCOME HOME KRIKKE.

the point of the saying, 50 steps and 100 steps, is that there is not much difference to try and prove to others, in case you didnt get it.

Exactly.

It's not just a generic "No one is right".
(and say that No one is right is just a way to stop trying to do the right thing, so watchout from that wy to think.)

I'm confused about the answers you people are giving. The replies don't seem to connect to each other. ;s
And I'm especially confused about this part because this was meant for clarification but it totally does the opposite for me:

the point of the saying, 50 steps and 100 steps, is that there is not much difference to try and prove to others, in case you didnt get it.

I figured the two soldiers are both wrong because they're both cowards for abandoning their duties (others will suffer from it which they don't seem to consider, being too self-centered). When the slower one blames the faster one for being bad then he either hasn't fully realized that what he is doing is the same thing or he is just mocking the other guy while being fully aware. For me the moral of the story is "don't point your fingers at someone else when you have the same flaws but possibly try to learn from the flaws in the behaviour of that person".

As such I thought Krikke was supposed to learn from Edd's bad example instead of pointing at him and saying "Look, he was even faster! Lolololol!!! XD". But it doesn't add up for me with the quote.

not just edd, but he has been here long enough to see many other examples and we all know that will happen sooner or later to many "i quit"-ers. dont think krikke was laughing but its just a story. im not trying to bash krikke, im just saying that he is no different, as he claims to be, quite a few times. (if you find it bashing, its your choice.)

background story of the above teaching.
梁惠王/King Hui of Wei, in ancient China, asked for Mencius teachings for politics. one time, he explained how good he was ruling his country and doing all the virtues while other kings werent as dedicated as he was, and asked why the population of this country was not increasing as it should and why the other countries werent losing population either. Mencius gave him the above story to the king, and the king answered to his own question, "that's no good. he is no different than he thinks he is".
