Couldn't read past this comment without stopping to scratch my head...
How could anybody refer to America as the greatest country in the world???
Other than the blind narcisism that comes with being a fanboy to the state in a similar fashion as sports fans predominantly stay local and root their hearts out calling their team the best, even if you live near Cleveland (I, in fact, live near Cleveland and am in a constant state of shock at how many Browns fans there still are

We live in a time period where people aren't so brainwashed by lack of information and influence of propaganda that people should be smarter than this. America has its ups, but also many downs as well and any members of a country that celebrates family shouldn't be criticized over it. Shit, America is probably the most detached society in the world, especially moreso in urbanized areas and places with housing that is not owner-occupied, with a LOT of people not even knowing who their neighbors are. Granted that isn't family, but Hilary Clinton's "It takes a village" speech makes it pretty close. Our children become more retarded every generation because of how much emphasis we put on entertainment over intelligence. This is shown by our desire to value one athlete at the same theoretical value as hundreds of educators, sometimes thousands, when comparing salaries.
People hate our freedoms and liberty based on jealousy? They hate us because so many people here are fucking d-bags by saying things like this. After all, the "Land of the Free" requires a license or permit to do most things. If you want to drive you need a license. If you want a dog you usually need to have it licensed. If you want to panhandle because you are poor you technically CAN if you can afford the permit that some cities offer. Even your own property isn't yours when you have to have a building permit to change your damn kitchen cabinets. "Jealousy" DID exist about this country a few generations ago, but to believe that this jealousy still exists in any but the underdeveloped countires is the ultimate naivity. Be realistic, we don't live in the best country in the world as a generalized statement, because there is no "best" country. I'm sure many have probably seen this, and it DOES come from a work of fiction, but there are a lot of truths in it:

Also, religion has played the most detrimental role in shaping society in every country in the world. George Carlin's "My God has a bigger d*** than your God" basically sums up the history of the world. "Inherently immoral athiest heathens" is going a little too far though, as stated in a post, considering that a deity and a book aren't the sole foundations to a good person. Moral judgment and conscience do not bypass people of different religions, the same as they don't naturally occur in those who follow the teachings of any religion known to man. It is based on the individual, and I have met a LOT of terrible, horrible people who call themselves Christians, just the same as having met a bunch of people who only call themselves godless/athiest to avoid moral obligations to all of their wrongdoings or to swear off the deity who they unjustly blame because their lives went sour and they didn't take steps themselves to make it better. It goes every way, but here are some examples of why Christianity alone isn't enough: Adolf Hitler was Catholic. Stalin attended college to be a Christian minister. Other recent events like the Serb Orthodox genocide in the 90s, genocide in the Catholic Nazi State of Croatia in WW2, Rwandan genocides in 94, shit in Ireland in the late 90s, there are tons and tons of things. I'm only playing devil's advocate here for the sake of reasoning, not to attack anybody's religion. A bad person is a bad person, and a good one is good, regardless of their religious affiliations.
Amd troll, I wish we celebrated a family day. If we did, I would have had a great one
