It's hard to translate.
"The farther into the woods, the thicker the partisans"
In this context means, that this place is very very far from somewhere.
Original expression is related to WW2 and describes danger of being deep in woods for occupants. Historical remark: there was very hard resistance on occupied by nazis territories in Belarus, Ukraine, where whole regions was under partisan's control and even dedicated SS forces was unable to fight effective against them. Most of these territories was located in the forests.

Original proverb is actually Чем дальше в лес, тем больше дров. Meaning the complications began to set in.
Proverb was turned into net mem by adding all kinds of weird shit instead of the proverb ending so that it rhymes or sound much like the original ending but with changed meaning. That one is hinting that the further you get in that forest, the fatter the chances partisans will have your ass for that

I got in a theft war with them. (Essentially stealing my stuff back and forth)

I run across poor scrub camps that have been looted and partially destroyed with Runestones in their wake.

The peaceful ones I do meet in the wild are cold and unwilling to even attempt to communicate.

Actually in my experience they are unwilling to communicate even when I'm being friendly.
