If we do get firearms, they should be good ol' hand cannons. Early arquebuses at best. Then add weather, and make them useless in rain.

Come to think of it tea should directly increase gun attack power.

But if you pay attention you'll notice he said they'll be really rare, the best way I can think of to do this is to make them super QL dependent, so that a Q10 gun does less damage and is less accurate than a Q10 sling but a Q100 can annilate a bear. This would go a great way towards keeping them out of griefer hands as only really good craftsmen could make them.
