Very valid points. Especially about the kiddies' inability to fulfill the simplest of managerial roles. Really would like to see more emphasis around that.

"Solution: Fix the game and the community will get fixed. Most of the now powerful and influential players will not be able to even maintain the simplest farm then"

You are going to have to expand on this. Insofar as the game is broken I fail to see how it's broken in a way to give an advantage to someone farming and or supplying themselves or others with thing? I read everything you posted and what I hear is something that I hear in any game that is putting on a couple of years. I myself fell under this category when it came to Ultima Online.

Despite the fact that the game is over 10 years old and still running, by 2001 we (We being old skool UO players and beta testers) were telling the Post Trammel-Felucca split players how great the game was from 97 to 00 and how now it's crap. It isn't so much that UO is crap now or that Haven is either, it's just that having been in on the original group of players to play the game you feel an "ownership" so to speak and feel like "your" game is being stolen by those who haven't put in as much time as you. In reality, the game is probably better than it ever was.

As for the forums? last I checked, you are a Moderator. Clean them up.

TL, DR Birg and other older players are suffering from "I was here firstist!" Syndrome.

of course. carry on.

btw, i was not trolling earlier in this thread. i'd love it if the forums were a decent read again. but like potjeh said the game and forum are basically dead. no point in discussing anything in c&i, most things in how do i have been asked and answered already, bugs don't merit a lot of discussion, etc, etc. i don't care about congress or a4o since i don't play.

here's what's up though:
most of the mods don't read the forum but you can make it a lot easier for us to deal with stuff by reporting problem posts instead of responding to them. try to have a bit thicker skin about things. i closed all the reports on this thread because there were like 20 and they were all pretty questionable imho. it would be helpful if you could put what rule you feel is being violated and why you think it's a violation in your report. someone posting a contrary opinion with a couple of fucks in it doesn't really violate a rule, does it?

i feel like the rules are pretty solid and any lack of enforcement (or inconsistent enforcement) stems from a lack of reporting. if you feel like the rules need to be clearer or that there needs to be new rules, feel free to make suggestions in the moderation thread. that said i don't want this to turn into the paradox forum where everything is so heavily enforced. just try to put some effort into your posts and be halfway decent to each other, ok?

"most of the mods don't read the forum."

"i'd love it if the forums were a decent read again. but like potjeh said the game and forum are basically dead."

Ahem... Do you realize how elitist you guys sound when you pronounce both the game and the forum dead when there are quite a few of us who play and enjoy the game, and if not "enjoy" the forums do use it as a source of info? I'll grant you the game isn't exactly rocking along like days during World 5 when I saw 1300 people on but if you don't support a game while it's down, don't come back round for World 7/New Updates and think you're gonna regain whatever status you had before. You abandoned the game while we stuck around and suffered through the lag, bugs etc etc.

Edit for Birg: Valten and PHP do not speak for the majority of the player base so don't be putting that "dunk" and "swag" idiocy on us. the majority of us play the game the same way we always have and don't act like retards.

game's not in development. that means it's dead. people can still play it, but it's dead. forum is dead as a result because "no point in discussing anything in c&i, most things in how do i have been asked and answered already, bugs don't merit a lot of discussion, etc, etc." and because of the lack of people playing/posting. it's just the same old shit unless you care about a40 or congress.

UO turned to crap BECAUSE of Trammel. A whole mirror landmass but no PvP? BULLSHIT!

Sorry for the off-topic post, just had to throw that in there :p.

Sure, they've always been pretty shit as far as the trolling is concerned but at least awhile ago there were some decent threads to read that actually would interest most people
