I just beat the dragon, though it took a little practice. The following steps should work:
1. When you get close to the dragon, use invuln potion.
2. When it wears off, teleport back.
3. Use a seed to grow a tree.
4. When you've destroyed the tree the potion cooldown will be gone, so repeat steps 1-3 untill dragon is dead.

It may take a little practice and I'd say you can do it easy with 4 of each invuln potions, seeds and teleports.

Is there any way to accelerate the candies?

People are capable of kindness angels can only dream of, yet can commit sins that put demons to shame.

im playing that game and i gotta say, its tough. fully upgrade the sword early, and get a lolipop farm going. It is the cutest game ever. Captain manlove approved, that tells you a lot.
Early world exploit: Put your hearthfire inside a cave, then hold shift to position a claim right in front of a cave. After 8 hours the claim will be unbreakable. Since your hearthfire is inside the cave, you can still get back inside, and leave, but nobody will be able to enter, effectively making you unraidable for the first 3-7 days. Enjoy

So I just started playing it hardmode, haven't noticed any real difference yet though. I guess I'll find out soon enough.
