Could we see some images of how the fort looks like?

These turns take a bit too long.

Most of these usually give about a week for a player to get through a year because of other activities.

Missed this earlier, but that was my thought, too. I was looking for a good place to dig through the cave and/or wall off a section so nothing can get through.

to note: in my own fort, i'm in year 3, and I've already got 2 axe lords and a couple of hammerdwarves almost there without using danger rooms. If you set training orders right in the military, they will spar a lot. One of them was a dwarf I set up at embark to be a soldier (dabbling martial skills--armor, shield, and axe, leadership, teacher) and another had come in at novice or so hammer or sword one. A few are skilled in multiple weapons at competent or better (yeah, i should probably force them to use one weapon or another for the number superiority). I didn't go full time training until year 2 (i start off 1 month on, 1 off) so I had enough dwarves to do work, and mining is great for building up strength in your soldiers.

The macaques..
They have been a nuisance forever now....
But only now have they struck a real blow to our fort.

The mist generator has been built successfully with only minor flooding.

oops. When they go through the water, they get a positive thought from having "a bath" at least.

In addition project "flood the caves lol rip" has been successful so far, seeing as most of the cave under our fort is flooded. If you wanted to dig any deeper, you'll probably have to make the staircase a bit away from the caves seeing as they are pretty much a massive aquifer now. I just really don't like cave swallows :x

Operation "make my m8 a badass" is also going well. He's an axelord now, and is looking forward to being the sole defender of the fort against a world of darkness and macaques. Fuck them. I will have my revenge... He is also now a hardened individual, so I guess he won't pussy away from fights as often now.

Will post again when some cool stuff happens.

Edit: Some guy named Inod seems to think he's in the military for some reason. He keeps following our friendly local badass around when he is told to station, and is labeled as a "wrestler", even though he isn't in any squads... He just really wants to suck up, I guess.
I guess when the first invasion comes, he'll die and the problem will solve itself.

Not really to my surprise, three dwarfs, all useless, luckily, full into the flooded caves and died horrible deaths RIP. I had to seal it up. In addition I also started digging down in another locating and made it down to magma, going through all the caves on the way.

Migrants have arrived..... despite the danger?

It isn't really that dangerous here atm, wonder why they're so cautious? Either way, it brought my pop to 80, meaning that I can finally hopefully quench my thirst for blood ;)

I was looking through the units screen, and I noticed that my dorf in game was the only actual named dwarf still alive ;_;. Being the last of my kind, I decided, out of respect, to make a room of legends full of slabs in memory of my fallen comrades,

and a coffin at the end for when my dwarf passes, plus a throne for my dwarf to sit in like some badass dwarf king 8-)

When the dwarf caravan finally arrived, I was excited to refuel my booze and restock my plump helmet seeds. When I got the history reprort, I was pretty surprised.

Apparently this group called the sin of dunes is just wrecking so much shit all around me. I hope they come here so they can face my steel and get shrekt.

It is currently early winter and my turn is done soon. Will get back to you.

This is probably due to a bug that all invasions are successful.

The great memorial hall is done. I made it in a spire of the caves that was in the middle of the room area, so it's a bit vulnerable to fliers, but as long as my guy is there it should be fine. It has a slab dedicate to every dead named dwarf.
Image
I also wanted to let whoever the next person who goes to know that for some reason stockpiles are bugged. I have a huge finished goods stockpile, and a refuse stockpile, and yet dwarves will let their shit rot and miasma up the place and leave finished goods at the workshop for some unknown reason. I tried quantum stockpiles too, but for some reason dwarves will not gather these two items :Z

I have no idea how to play DF, I tried some time ago, but I couldn't get the hang of it (and half the hotkeys seemed not to work, or have no documentation).

Could someone post a link to the version of DF that you guys are playing, and any other managing programs that are required to play?
Or better yet, put your entire game + programs into a zip and send it to me :D :D :D
